LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Carmen Ruiz was nominated by her colleague, Karen Maldonado Doucet.

Ms. Ruiz grew up in Central Falls and has dedicated her career as a school counselor to giving back to her community.  She is the definition of what a true CF Warrior is. Aside from scheduling students, she has been the lady Warriors softball coach, run cultural and climate initiatives for the high school, and has worked with all students in trying to help them succeed outside of high school.  She has volunteered many hours in trying to make Central Falls a better place, and it has shown.  Students are always coming back to see her after they have graduated.

"Personally, she has helped me coordinate activities for our new students," said Maldonado Doucet. "Being bilingual, she has been able to suppport not only students, but guardians as well."
