I met Audra Simmons Pinckney as an elementary school student when I was her principal at Porcher Elementary School. We later moved to the newly built St. James-Santee Elementary School. Audra returned to St. James as my 3rd grade teacher in 1998. I was ecstatic and pleased that she returned to her alma mater in our community. She is an excellent role model and an exemplary teacher. She is creative and willingly participated in professional development. The knowledge and skills she gained in these trainings were observed in her teaching. Her students always made progress. Our parents were so proud that she returned home to teach in the community where she lives. I am so proud of her. She has been an asset to her colleagues, parents and students. ( Retired, but still admire her dedication.)
