Ms. O'Brien was nominated for her outstanding leadership as a teacher mentor and tireless efforts in teaching struggling students to read, a long-time dream of hers. She is committed to helping her students succeed as readers and in academics. She is a strong advocate for students and is dedicated to ensuring success beyond school.
Ms. O'Brien strives to make an impact on students’ lives in a positive manner. She goes above and beyond for her students, even driving them to school when the bus has not been able to pick them up. Ms. O'Brien is always kind and positive about every person that she works with, both students and staff alike. She is a quiet, thoughtful leader in her department and in the school for all to observe. She is a calming influence on many troubled students.
Ms. O'Brien has successfully assisted students entering high school as non-readers with graduating with the highest honors that her school can award: the Patriot Award. She holds herself, her students and her colleagues to the highest ethical standards.
