Music that Describes Calvin
Calvin Jesberg was nominated by an anonymous student.
Mr. Jesberg is a LifeChanger in his community in many ways! He has been teaching in Louisiana R-II School District for 35 years. Almost everyone in town has had him as a teacher. Thanks to Mr. Jesberg, every student who graduates from Louisiana knows the history of the United States, how the constitution works, and what responsibilities citizens have. Mr. Jesberg always spends extra time before and after school setting up flags for national holidays, helping with Veteran's assembly preparation, and working with local charities to help those in need.
He helps build a positive school atmosphere by being consistent and lighthearted at the same time. Students always know the rules will be the same for everyone when Mr. Jesberg is there. All of the kids know he is fair. He always has a smile and a silly joke to tell when students are having a tough day. Teachers look to Mr. Jesberg for answers whenever a question comes up. He has been in his school so long, that even the principal asks him questions sometimes! He volunteers to supervise the cafeteria in the morning and help with the buses at dismissal.
The teachers at the high school can vouch for Mr. Jesberg's performance record as a teacher. They all talk about how the kids coming out of his classes know their history when they walk into high school and are ready to move forward. Mr. Jesberg is committed to making his school a great place to learn. He has created various volunteer activities to allow students to collaborate on projects in the school and community that benefit different school organizations or local charities.
Mr. Jesberg is dedicated to doing what is right. He emphasizes this to all of his students. He is a role model for many students because they can always depend on him to do the right thing, even when no one knows he is doing it. Many times, he helps kids out without them even knowing it was him. He never looks for recognition. He simply says, "You should do right because it's the right thing to do, not because somebody is watching."
"Everyone I know respects Mr. Jesberg and admires what he does for all of the kids in our community," said his nominator.
Calvin is the most devoted hardworking teacher that I know. He truly loves his position as a teacher and his dedication to his students and his school is unmatched. He routinely cooks for fundraisers for his school and comminuty, as well as putting up flags at the school for Memorial Day and Veteran's Day. Calvin truly makes a difference in th lives of his students and his community. He is extremely deserving of this award.
Not only was Mr. Jesberg my teacher in school but he remained a teacher in life for me. He always had a smile on his face and taught me how to be honest and positive. Being an amazing teacher/administrator isn't just teaching content in the classroom. Being able to teach lifelong life skills needed to navigate the difficult real world is also vital. I have often reflected on Mr. Jesberg and what I learned from him both in classroom and outside of the classroom. A small story to show you the content of his character begins years ago when he and my mother began working together in the Louisiana schools. About 10 years ago my mother suffered brain damage and lost her ability to function independently. She loved her work and was devastated to have to retire. Mr. Jesberg began sending her funnies from the weekly newspaper to put a smile on her face via mail. As the years went by, the "smiles" continued to come in the mail. I couldn't believe it! Life has gone on for so many people and my mother receives less and less visitors and mail. However, Mr. Jesberg has remained a constant in her life. Ten years later, he still sends her those funnies from the paper and this means to world to her and our entire family. It's the little things in life that show a person's true character. I can't think of a better recipient for this award than he!
Mr. Jesberg is both a colleague and friend. I have had the pleasure of knowing him for the better part of 17 years. Mr. Jesberg is a very caring and devoted person. Not only does he care about his students but also for his community. You couldn't ask for a better person to be nominated for the LifeChanger award. Mr. Jesberg is definitely a "Awesome" role model for the students and adults as well.
From the moment I met Calvin, and became his colleague and friend, it was apparent he possessed a servant's heart. His motivation and desire is to help those in need, at times to his own detriment. The word "no" very seldom passes his lips and when it does it is with considered soul searching. Calvin is the model of consistency, patience, integrity, loyalty, and work ethic we should all strive for in our lives. Calvin's students receive not only a great history education, they leave his classroom better people for knowing him. There is no one more deserving of the LifeChanger of the Year award.
I have had the pleasure of knowing Mr. Jesberg since 2001 when I got my first job at Louisiana. Calvin and I coached and taught together for the better part of 15 years. I consider Calvin one of my greatest mentors in education, and in life. I could write for days about all the lessons he has taught me and the stories we share. Calvin has the unique ability to relate to a wide variety of people. Calvin is a very caring person. He takes an interest in his students, not only when they are in his class, but even as they begin their adult lives he is still there cheering them on to be successful. One thing that always has shined bright about Calvin is his integrity. Calvin always strives to do the right thing, no matter how popular the outcome may be. During my last five years at Louisiana, I served at the district Activities Director. Calvin was always willing to help every program in any way he could. It was a blessing to have Calvin there to count on not only for his work he did to help out the programs, but also for his advice. Calvin and I are still great friends, even though I am no longer in Louisiana. We continue to email back and forth and have even made time to get short visits in when possible. I am very honored to be Calvin's friend!!!!!
Mr. Jesberg deserves to be recognized and so much more. Thank you Mr. Jesberg for going above and beyond. Thank you for all that you have done and continue to do. Bless you and yours.
Mr. Jesberg is a wonderful upbeat teacher. He is very supportive with all around him. It's been a pleasure to work with him for the last 18 years. He has a wonderful smile when he greets you. Thank you Mr. Jesberg for all you do for our school and students.
I began my teaching and coaching career in Louisiana, MO 27 years ago. I was fortunate enough to coach with Mr. Jesberg. He not only welcomed me with open arms, but went above and beyond to help me in my first years of teaching. He showed me how to relate to kids with humor and how to get the most out of them. I moved on after three years at Louisiana, but Calvin and I remain the best of friends - 24 years later. He never forgets my children’s birthdays and spends way to much on them at Christmas. He is thoughtful, caring, and honest. I couldn’t ask for a better friend or mentor. He is a role model for all students. He can always be counted on to do the right thing. There isn’t a more deserving teacher for this award anywhere. I still learn from Mr. Jesberg to this day and am proud to call him my friend.
Although we don’t know Calvin first hand in his classroom, we have the privilege of knowing him as our brother/brother in law, and uncle to our kids. We are so very proud of all his accomplishments as a teacher and community leader, of which I’ve no doubt some acts of his kindness we are not even aware that Calvin has been a part of in helping others. His school and community have benefited from his teaching, guidance, and support, just as we have also had as part of his family. A well deserved recognition!
Mr. Jesberg is the man behind the awesome display of flags in front of the Louisiana High School on MLK Day, Harry Truman's birthday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, 9/11, Constitution Day, Columbus Day, and Veteran's Day. "The Voice of the Louisiana Bulldogs" belongs to Mr. Jesberg as he announces many of the school's sports. He is a role model for his students and colleagues as well! I know there is more he deserves recognition for that I have not written about!
Well deserving of this honor!
Mr. Jesberg is an asset to the Louisiana RII school district and the community. He provides a classroom that is predictable, consistent, and safe. The students appreciate the stability that is present in Mr. Jesberg's classroom. The students know what his classroom expectations are and they rise up and meet them. Mr. Jesberg volunteers in so many ways for the school district. He sets out flags in the front lawn every Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and Labor Day. Mr. Jesberg prepares and cooks food for various clubs and organizations. And is well known for making the best mostaccioli around! Mr. Jesberg is always aware when someone has a need and he does whatever he needs to do, to help that individual. I feel very honored to have Mr. Jesberg as a colleague and I feel blessed to have him as a friend. The Louisiana RII school district is a better place because of Mr. Jesberg. Mr, Jesberg should definitely be chosen as LifeChanger of the year, as he possesses all the character traits a LifeChanger should have.
Mr. Jesberg has been wonderful to the entire district. I have had 3 students lucky enough to have him as a teacher over the years. There isn't a day that goes by that my children haven't come home with some story about Mr Jesbergs class. But it's way more than just his teaching. Mr Jesberg is the voice of the Louisiana Bulldogs, hes out in the front lawn for EVERY Memorial Day, Veterans Day, Labor Day and more lining flags along the road perfectly. It's nothing to be driving down the road and seeing him out there with his tape measure and marker getting the measurements just right! For these reasons and SO MANY MORE Mr. Jesberg really deserves this honor!
I am fortunate to get to substitute for Mr. Jesberg from time to time. I can tell by the way his students treat me that they have great respect for Mr. Jesberg. When subbing for another teacher he often checks to make sure that my day is going well. His positive attitude rubs off on everyone. He is truly dedicated to his school even cooking a special appreciation lunch for secretaries complete with tablecloths and lovely place settings. Mr. Jesberg is certainly deserving of this honor.
Beyond just being a very intelligent person and great teacher, Mr. Jesberg is one of the kindest, funniest people I’ve known. He always does his best to set a good example and be an exemplary figure in the Louisiana community. He cares about students and always is willing to chat or just tell you a funny joke. He has brightened my days countless times, especially back in middle school, which could get rough for me at times, and has given me and my friends innumerable amounts of life advice. Thank you Mr. Jesberg, we love you!
Throughout my entire school career, there have only been two teachers I’ve had that I’ve connected with and that have truly pushed me to be the best student I could possibly be. One of those teachers was Mr. Jesberg. He has continuously supported me from the moment I stepped foot in his class in the 7th grade, all the way through to college where I’m currently spending my days. He’s a funny, interesting, and very intelligent mentor who I admire greatly and was one of the biggest reasons I enjoyed going to school at the time, and beyond. If I could vote for anyone on this nominee list that I believe deserves this award more than anyone else I’ve known throughout my academic affairs, and short list of personal heroes, I’d cast my vote for Mr. Jesberg a thousand times over.
Mr. Jesberg is my favorite teacher. He taught me a lot of things. He has always tried to teach everyone to be a caring citizen and altogether to be a good person. He takes time out of his day to help anyone and everyone. I can't say it enough. Thank you Mr Jesberg for all that you have done.
Mr Jesberg is everything I would pray for in a teacher for my children. I’m just thankful that my kids are lucky enough to have a role model like him in their adolescence. He goes beyond being a simple educator and is an amazing person that demonstrates how kindness goes a long way. My son was going through a rough time and he was there and understanding of his situation. He took time to talk to me about things he took note of and had kind and encouraging words to help me through guiding him. Don’t think he knows how much his time and words meant in that moment. But that’s just how he is. He’s an admirable man through and through and our children are fortunate to have him in their lives.
First, let me say that Mr. Jesberg is “THE BEST”. Often people talk about having the best of something. I am here to say that Louisiana School District has “THE BEST” with Mr. Jesberg.
Mr. Jesberg was my daughter’s middle school history teacher, but was so much more than that to her and many other students. He was the class that the students enjoyed and always knew they would see his smile and hear a bit of humor from him every day. In addition, he created a great learning environment, which kept his students engaged. The students respected him as a teacher and as a person. Mr. Jesberg would go above and beyond whenever a situation arose, with no expectation of recognition…he did what he did because he saw a need. Mr. Jesberg is not only a teacher, but a volunteer and mentor.
My husband had the privilege of working with Mr. Jesberg for many years, and immediately saw his kindness, caring, compassion when teaching children, and continued to see what a good person he was. When my husband retired after 30+ years as a teacher and school administrator, we were honored that Mr. Jesberg delivered the retirement speech.
Mr. Jesberg is so deserving of this award. We have seen first hand that he has not only touched the lives of hundreds of students throughout the years, but with his smile, humor, kind words and positive teaching abilities, has changed the lives of many students, more that we will ever know, for the better.
Mr.Jesberg was my favorite middle school teacher. He always made sure everyone understood and went out of his way to make that happen. He always had a joke to make your day. Mr.Jesberg has done so much for our community. He puts flags out for national holidays. He makes great food for us and it’s so greatly appreciated!
Super awesome and so deserving!
Jesberg was one of the best teacher I ever had he always put your first over himself and he will do anything for anyone if you needed help
Mr. Jesberg is a staple of our school! He's been there since before I was in his class 25 years ago and I was so happy to hear my kids talking about his jokes when they went through. As a parent, I've been very impressed with my students' actual knowledge of current events. They're not just blind sheep following whatever they see on social media; they actually know how the government works and are educated enough to figure out the real story. And then there's Mr. Jesberg's flag display- teaching the students and community about pride in our country and support of those who protect us through his humble raising of the flags that adorn our middle/high school campus for all to see. I am proud to have had the chance to be a student of Mr. Jesberg's and I am hoping all my children will have that same chance before he retires. Thank you Mr. Jesberg for all you've done for our school, our community and our students!
Mr.Jesberg was my 7th grade middle school teacher. He was a awesome teacher to where he would go buy bagels and cook them for us. He always even if it was snowing or raining out he would always put out the American Flags to support the troops. Jesberg is always good and ready in the morning to get to work and help out other students on what they can’t get pass what they have tried to work on. He would do anything for anybody on the world and he would make time to get in what he needed to.
Middle school was so much fun because of Mr. Jesberg and his jokes! He cared about every student and wanted everyone to have success. Thanks for everything you have done and will do for LMS!
Mr. Jesberg is the greatest!
Mr. Jesberg has made a difference in so many peoples' lives. There aren't enough words to describe him adequately. Congratulations! You deserve this honor.
Mr. Jesberg is a great guy! He cares about every aspect of the students' lives. He teaches them life lessons, not just history.
Mr. Jesberg is an excellent teacher. He supports ALL of the students in and out of the classroom. I bet he has given away thousands of oatmeal cream pies and has cooked countless pounds of mostaccioli. Mr. Jesberg has the best dad jokes!
Mr. Jesberg was one of my favorite teachers going through school and his jokes always made my day better.
I feel that Mr. Jesbery is a good teacher for the way he teaches. Both, My sister and I have had him as a history teacher and we respect him. still today, he makes me want to learn more about the history and historical events.
Mr. Jesberg... Where can i start i want to say first that Mr. Jesberg truly changed my life more than anyone else. He is such a good person to look up to, probably the best to look up to. He truly is a hero to me, and one of the only true heroes in my life, he is funny and nice and caring and will always put his students and teaching them before he would anything else this man is a life changer thats for sure but he is also so much more than just that title that you can give him because his soul is the brightest happiest thing i have ever seen and yet it is still stern and solid when it needs to be, he made class fun while still keeping a stable learning environment for the children he truly is the happy medium in it all. if you look sad one day he will do anything in his power to make you laugh and happy again and will talk to you if you need it, last year was truly my life changing year it was the year i would be converting from middle school to highschool but Mr. Jesberg taught us everything we needed to know and prepared us completely for highschool he is one of the only teachers ive ever met that would rather have his students be happy before he would himself. I had to do a lot in 8th grade to prepare myself mentally for highschool and he made that 10,000 times easier for me. he truly is the lifeblood of this school and this community because he keeps everything going and pitches in one way or another, he cooks when the school needs to serve food or any of the clubs, he teaches the children, and he has helped all of us one way or another if you read this, Thank you Mr. Jesberg we all appreciate you so much i just do a little more.
Mr. Jeseberg was honestly my favorite teacher. He does a lot not only in the classroom but cooking, and he always put a smile on someone's face. He has been here for a while now and I think he should get this reward.
Mr. Jesburg was my favorite history teacher I have ever had. I had him for 2 years and I loved them from the bottom of my heart. I remember that everyday you would have to walk into his room and get a bell ringer of the presidents and do them in only BLACK pen. You would also have to have your red notebook to take your notes in. He always takes his own time to put the flags out in the front of our school no matter how cold or hot it was for any patriotic event. Mr, Jesburg also helped with so many dinners and cooked over half of them and I know that he has a huge role in our small town community. He has been a teacher for 35 years and I couldn't imagine someone taking his place. I wish I was back in Middle school so I could have him as a teacher again. I admire hime for everything that he has done and couldn't thank him more. He is the reason that I love history and he made it fun for me.
I had Mr. Jesberg was my social studies teacher for 7th and 8th grade and going into his class i really wasn't very interested in the history but after walking out of his class i have a different outlook on the history of the Untied States and the little things that changed our present life. Mr. Jesberg is one of a kind. He treats everyone with the same respect. He is always having a positive attitude. Everyone you meet could tell you things about him. My parents grew up in Louisiana and they are always telling me stories of his class and just of him. Everyone needs a Mr. Jesberg in their lives. His class was just like a class filled of laughter and love. He was someone you could always go to for good advice or even if you need help with something. Mr. Jesberg is one of the most lovable person you could meet.
Mr. Jesberg was my favorite teacher and got me interested in Social Studies. Mr. Jesberg was always keeping up with the dance trends and showing them off in class. Whether he was having a bad day or not he would always get a smile out of us. He also told the best jokes. He cared for his students more than anyone I know.
I think that Mr. Jesberg is a teacher that has impacted almost every student that has gone through his class. While a lot of people didn't like social studies, he made it excitingly boring. By that I mean it was exciting to go to his "boring" class. He taught us life lessons along with the required lesson, and did everything he could to make it easier for us to learn. He does so much for the school and uplifts a lot of the students.
Mr. Jesberg is an amazing teacher by far. He has changed my life for the better and i am so thankful for him. He was the one that inspired me to get into history more and to learn about history not only in school but out of school also. Mr. Jesberg has changed so many more lives than just me in the 35 years he has taught. Im sure if you ask anyone in Louisiana mo about him they will tell you nothing but amazing things about him. From his corny jokes all the way to his teaching...he is amazing.
Mr. Jesberg was my Social Studies teacher last year. He always brought us food and when he was out of class doing something for the other teachers or our principal's lunch day and if we helped he would always pay us back by giving us food or a free day. He would always want to help out and would want to help out in the community. He changed my life and how I thought of school. He taught me everything i know in social studies.
Mr. jesebergwas the best teacher I have had and helped me a lot

Mr. Jeseberg is a great teacher, his class was always interesting, and I always had a good time.
Congratulations, Mr. Jesberg, on this nomination. When I think back to my High School days back in the 80s, I recall exceptional teachers who were committed to our school district and to our community. You were one of those. Flash forward to today, and I think that you are only one of two teachers that remain from “those days.” You were my Civics teacher. We had a lot of boys in our class that were class clowns. You never missed a beat with them. You kept your sense of humor, you allowed them to have theirs, you taught us, you molded us, and you never gave up on any of us. You were firm and you were fair. You still are. You contribute to the community but don’t seek recognition. (We DO see you in the dark, decorating our community with flags before holidays, so that you don’t draw attention to yourself and so that the small town of Louisiana, Missouri will wake up first thing on the morning to true patriotism.) You volunteer hours at the school and in the community and fill whatever roles are needed. You still remember your students from years gone by. In fact, you have supported my husband in his role as a professional wrestler and now you are supporting my husband while he is battling brain cancer. You are compassionate, kind, selfless, and giving. We are blessed to have been your students, and now, your friend. Thank you for all you do, all you have done, and all you will do.
Mr.Jeseberg was always the person I looked forward to seeing every day. I loved his jokes!

He has an amazing way of teaching and makes sure his students understand the information. He puts the flags out in front of the school no matter if it’s a blizzard or if it’s pouring rain, and he lives almost an hour away! He is dedicated and makes an effort to be personal with his students and talk with him. He is someone who I will remember for the rest of my life and i’m glad I got to be in one of his classes. He always greets people with a smile and makes sure to have a conversation with you when you walk by. Me. Jesberg was my social studies teacher, and I recommend him for all his hard work. All the stories that would prepare us for the future and the funny jokes. I’ve never met anyone who has a heart for his students and what he does just like him!
He was my favorite teacher and he made my whole class breakfast and also gave us bagels almost every week.
Mr. Jesberg does some extraordinary things, but my favorite is his support of his country. He puts on an extravaganza of flags and patriotic support for this country, its fallen heroes, and its active soldiers. In the greatest downpours in the dark, in blizzard conditions, I have seen this man putting up flag displays, unfurling the colors of this nation to inspire the people who often forget. Additionally, Mr. Jesberg provides food for students who do not get a hot breakfast at home. He is quiet about all the different ways he tries to help people, he doesn't brag. I like a man who is humble.
Mr. Jesberg is the best teacher I have ever had. He has impacted the lives of many people, but if i were to write about all the lives he’s impacted, I’d be writing a 500 page book. He has made a huge impact on my life as well. During the two years i had him as my teacher, he taught me how to be the best version of myself. Mr. Jesberg is the most selfless person I’ve ever met. He has spent the past 35 years bending over backwards for his students and I believe that this is award would be a good way to give back for all he has done for us.
Mr. Jesberg helped me a lot during my middle school years. During those years he taught me many valuable lessons that have impacted my life. He was the first teacher that truly made me happy. Anytime I would walk into that classroom I would instantly become happier. He had the best jokes and had is always positive. He is famous for his black pens and to this day I mostly use a black pen for my academic classes. I am overall glad that I had him as a teacher.
Mr. Jeseberg was my social studies in middle school. i can say he was a very good teacher always help others out when they where having a rough day.He always had a mind of his own he always went out for the school and help us there so much he has done so much for are school.
Mr. Jesberg's way of teaching is different from others. He uses a projector and his own way of writing the notes. His notes were very understandable. If there was a student who didn't understand something, he would explain it until that student did understand. He taught us about integrity and honesty. He is hands down my favorite History teacher I have ever had. He is very kind and respectful. He put on lunches for us and always had a welcoming smile. He is always helping out at all of the school events. He even comes and supports our school teams. Mr. Jesberg has changed a lot of peoples lives. His jokes are pretty great, too.
I just want to say thank you for everything you have done to help me get through school, and through the rough days. Mr. Jesberg you are very amazing person, like when were in class and we were done but still had to work, you would tell us some jokes to make us laugh. You would always give us tips on how to treat others you taught a lot of people respect in our school. You would always bring in food but with everything we did inside of the classroom we were learning. No matter if it was a free day or not you would always push us to do really good. You always taught us right with notes to use a Black Pen and Notebook. If there was ever a kid that was having a bad day or not you would always put a smile on our face. Most of us in our school district are the way we are because of all the things you taught us.BEST TEACHER in my Opinion.
I love how he can always smile. No matter what he always came into the the room with a bright smile, another cool tie, and a greeting. Even though I've only been out of middle school for a year, I already miss his jokes. Out of everyone, Mr. Jeseberg is a great nomination choice.
Mr. Jesberg is a very outgoing teacher. He loves his student and makes sure they have the tools to learn. He is very nice and may I say he loves his BLACK PENS.
Mr. Jesberg was an amazing history teacher of mine. I had him my 7th and 8th grade years of middle school. He was a teacher that made his class enjoyable. He always cracked jokes and even made his tests kind of fun by adding funny answer choices that were meant to distract us and make the tests harder. He was always so kind and funny. I really miss having him as a teacher. The way he taught his class made me look forward to it. I will always miss the notes he had us take and his amazing Mr. Jesberg handwriting.
Mr. Jesberg is a very outgoing teacher. He loves his student and makes sure they have the tools to learn. He is very nice and may I say he loves his BLACK PENS.
Dis man better win. he's actually lit.
Mr.J Berg was my 7th and 8th grade social studies teacher. He is super nice and my favorite teacher out of the 10 years i've been in school. hes helped me alot even when i was failing he would help me get my grades up
U were a good teacher and u always made me laugh
Mr. Jesberg was an amazing history teacher when I was in middle school. I loved hearing his jokes and he made me love history even more than I already did. He is a really great teacher and is always helping out with almost every school activity. You can go to him for anything and he always helps students learn and understand new things including some amazing life lessons.
Mr. Jesberg, such an amazing and hardworking teacher. Thank you for the best life advice, and important useful information. I have learned a lot from you, and love taking notes. Love your amazing jokes, stories, and amazing memories we had in 7th-8th grade year. The sad thing is that you will not be my teacher again. Thankyou...
Mr. Jesberg was a great Social Studies teacher going through school. He is the reason i am interested in History. His way of teaching was a way I could learn the lesson well. His jokes were the best though, they were on point. In our town and the school, we all know that Mr. Jesberg goes above for our school.
Mr. Jesberg is the reason i'm interested in history. He always is helping out with anything school related. Every time we had his class he would have a good ole' dad joke to tell us. He would always give us advise for after high school. Thanks to Mr. Jesberg I know what i wanna do when i get out of college.
MR Jesburg were do i start from his dad style jokes to his great style of viewing people you could being having the worst day of your life and he would make attest 1 hour of your life enjoyable. he a long commute to get to school about 1 hour away and he been doing that for 35 years he also helps our school programs out he does the announcer for every sport we had.
now a quote from him
"i see said the blind man to the deaf woman"
He was the best history teacher I had by far. He was funny but still got to the point. He would always put flags out on memeral day and venterday all by he's self.
Mr. Calvin Jesberg is an amazing history teacher. He is full of life and many jokes that are hilarious. He was full of life many people love history including myself. Mr.Jesberg was the nicest man you would ever meet. Mr. Jesberg has a long drive when he could get a job near his living places. Mr. Jesberg is big life changer.
Mr. Jeseberg is one of my favorite teachers of all time, I always did good on his tests and worksheets because he was that good of a teacher. He made things east to understand, and knew how to communicate with everyone. I learned a lot from him like everyone else in our class. He likes to make dad jokes and that just help lighten the mood all the time, and he was almost everyone's favorite teacher in middle school.
I didn't get to have Mr. Jesberg as a teacher but i've heard by other students that he is the best teacher here, and keeps a very positive environment in his class.
i was not lucky enough to have him as a teacher but all my fellow students say he is the best teacher ever so i thought id leave a comment.
I haven't been in his class yet and people say that I'm unlucky because of it. Everybody says he was a very good teacher and usually students don't talk nice about students but he might of just been that good of a teacher.
a very good teacher and does a lot for the school even when he doesn't have to.
Mr. Jesberg is a very nice man. I had him during 8th grade, and he was a very good teacher. He always has the funniest jokes to tell. I love how he always puts out the flags every time there’s an important day.
Mr. Jeseberg was my social studies teacher in middle school. I can honestly say that I learned as much in his class about being a responsible and caring citizen as I did about US and World history. Mr. Jeseberg doesn't just tell you what it means to be a good person he teaches by example. Everyone in Louisiana and Quincy knows that Mr. Jeseberg goes above and beyond for the school all the time but he actually does more for the local communities than what everyone knows. He practices charity so that "the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing". In other words he does a lot of charity works quietly because its the right thing to do and not because he wants attention. I have always admired that about him.
Mr. Jesburg was one of my favorite teachers going through school. He made a subject I wasn't fond of much more exciting. Plus his jokes were always on point.
Mr. Jesberg is an exceptional leader, teacher, mentor, advocate, historian, and an all-around amazing person. I have been blessed to have worked with Mr. Jesberg as a fellow teacher. We would often discuss classroom stories or share coaching tips of the trade. He offered advice and wisdom as I worked towards goals.
Mr. Jesberg is a great asset to our district. We are very lucky to have him
Why are people just finding this out, I've known Calvin for years and have always known what a "Great, forward thinking, Honest, and Trust-worthy person" he has always been!!!!!! Did I get it all right just like you wanted Calvin?????? (LOL). This man is a fantastic friend and a most honorable person. I'm so very happy to have him in my life.
Mr Jesberg. Congratulation on this nomination. I couldn’t agree more with the student who nominated you. A true person of integrity - you exemplify what it means to be a contributing individual in society. You go above and beyond. Thank you for your dedication to our youth and for all you do. ??
I loved Mr. Jesberg. I had in for social studies when I was in 7th and 8th grade. It was always a good time in class. He is such an amazing teacher.
I can`t think of a teacher more deserving for this award. I think he has taught the majority of people from this little town over the years making an impact. He really gets to know each student and have a relationship with them. Which is important. The flags that he spends so much time on, always look beautiful. It takes pure dedication to get them out so early and no matter the weather. Good luck, you deserve it!
One of the best High school teachers I ever had well deserving to be recognized for it
Best teacher and coach you could ask for. He goes beond daily activities and helps kids at anytime they are in need. Great person
One of the best mentors out there
Calvin, You were always someone I looked forward to working with. You wanted everyone to succeed. You were patient and did not mind going over things several times to make sure we got it. Thank you!
Wonderful teacher! Definitely deserving of recognition!
Iam so proud to have worked for you as a principal. You were always helping others
and lending support to the children.
You won’t find a more caring and giving teacher, friend or person.
Wether in the classroom or in personal life he will give 100% and more
Mr. Jesburg had a huge impact on my school experience. Over 30 years ago he took a kid who hated social studies and converted her to love it. That kid was me!
Now I am 25 years into my own teaching career and social studies is one of my favorite subjects to teach. i have not forgotten how humor makes all the difference in a classroom and I believe that I have him to thank for lighting that spark of interest. Thanks to Mr. Jesburg, I now view the world with a different pair of lenses.
Mr. Jesburg was one of my high school basketball coaches back in the 1980s. He was always so kind to us. He made us homemade cookies & gave them to our team after games. Some years later he was the principal who hired me as a business teacher at my alma mater. He also taught both my children in middle school. He is one of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Hi Mr. Jesberg,
Thanks for your service to the community by teaching faithfully and with lots of patience and love for your students. God bless you!
One thing that has always stuck out to me is Mr Jesberg never gave up on his students. I was one of the troubling kids he had but not once did he treat me unfairly. He still believed in me no matter what. I have the upmost respect for him. He deserves this honor.
Mr. Jesberg has taught my children & one of my grandchildren. He was also a colleague when I taught at LMS. He was always respectful to students and faculty.
I’ve always admired Mr. Jesberg for his unselfishness. He’s always willing to go that extra mile to help a student, another teacher, or the school to succeed. He’s definitely a great role model for his students. Louisiana is very fortunate to have such a quality teacher as Mr. Jesberg!
I have know Calvin Jesberg for 31 years and I've had the privilege of being his wife for the past 20 years. Calvin is probably the hardest working person I know. Whether it is teaching school or working his part-time jobs, volunteering for his church or setting out a flag display in front of his school on patriotic holidays, or helping neighbors, family and friends - Calvin does it to the best of his ability. He leads by example and lives the values every day which he tries to impart to his students. Along with the normal admonitions to young people to tell the truth; be responsible for your actions; be kind to others; choose your friends wisely; share your time and your talents, Calvin Jesberg also shares that you should do the right thing, even if no one is watching and to read something new every day so that you will always have something interesting to say. Calvin attends after-school events even when he is not involved in them to show his students his support in their extracurricular interests. Calvin Jesberg has been called "The Voice of the Bulldogs" when he is the announcer at school track meets or ballgames. He shares his love of cooking with school staff and students alike when he prepares meals for them. For these reasons and so many more, please choose Calvin Jesberg as the Life Changer of the Year. Thank you!
Mr. Jesberg always brightens his students day with a smile and one of his many jokes. He made us actually want to learn — very rare for middle school students.
He makes not only his students but the entire community realize the importance of what sacrifices were made for our freedom, today. You will find Mr. Jesberg and his wife decorating the school yard with American flags the NIGHT (literally it’ll be getting dark and he’s still out there) before any patriotic holiday. It is so moving to drive past and see those flags up for the day. If you drive through and see it, you’d know exactly what feeling I’m talking about. That act in itself shows his passion for what he does on an entire other level. He’s dedicated to making his students and our community a better place. We are all so thankful to have him in our lives!
A wonderful role model and mentor for students as well as colleagues!
I met Calvin during the beginning of my teaching career. He is a true gentleman, a role model and one of true character. I had the opportunity to be his assistant in Junior High basketball. He not only coached the game well, he motivated our young athletes to be better individuals on and off the court. He made a lasting impression on me, coach wise, professionally and as a person. He is someone I admire to this day. Thank you Mr. Jesberg!!!
Calvin has definitely earned an award like this. He is a very dedicated teacher. He is also such a patriotic person. He makes sure the flags are up along the driveway at his school on all holidays.
Calvin is a special person. Whoever wrote the article to nominate him did a great job of describing him. He is a good friend and always helping wherever there is a need. Proud to know him and call him friend.
Mr. Jesberg,
Thanks for all you do, and have done, for our kids and our community. Your commitment to elevating each student to be the best version of themselves has not gone unnoticed. Your kindness and calm demeanor create a “port in the storm” for students who may not have a safe place to go in life. Your approachability and patience create a safe space for kids to come and learn.
You have never “judged a book by it’s cover”. As a teacher and mentor, you have always peeled back each page of the book to reveal what lies beneath the cover, in an effort to get the whole story - to understand who your students are and what things they need to motivate them. You have always try to discover what each student needed to thrive. You meet each kid where they are, and provide support and encouragement in a manner that works for each individual.
You are a humble man, and because of your low-key, flying-below-the-radar style, you have impacted so many young people over the years, and have never been in the spotlight for your efforts. You have never pursued such recognition, because at the end of the day, you do what you do to make someone else’s life better and not for the recognition. You work each day to change the world, one person at a time.
I want you to know that the time you invested in me as a student and an athlete helped me to grow into the person I am today. I am a better person because of you, and because of the choices you made as an educator and coach. The patience and commitment to excellence that you demonstrated while teaching and coaching showed me that attitude does matter and that it CAN absolutely change things.
In my book, you are definitely a #LifeChanger!! Thanks for the time and energy you took to guide me on this path we call life. You have definitely left your mark on me, the students and citizens of Louisiana, Missouri!!
Mr. Jesberg has been influential in both my boys education. There wasn’t a classroom they enjoyed more.
He always goes the extra mile for his students and the student body as well as the school.
We are blessed to have him!!
There is no other teacher more deserving of this honor than Mr. Jesburg. Calvin has taught my entire family throughout the years and now my children. He is a honorable man that gives so much to his students and community. He is not only teaching our youth history but even more what true patriotism is all about.- Louisiana Class of 1991
Mr. Jesberg was my government and American history teacher in high school. After my husband took a teaching position at LHS, he has become a friend to us both. He is one of those teachers that goes above and beyond - not only for his students and coworkers but for the community as well. Every holiday he spends his own time to place an array of American flags across the front lawn of the school in tribute to our country and the men and women who served. I don’t know a more hard working, more caring person (aside from my husband ??) who deserves it more. He would never ask to be recognized, but I’m grateful for this opportunity. He has had a positive impact on countless people in our small town and I hope we can all take a moment to pay tribute to the legacy he will leave.
Very sweet man, helps everyone. Loves to cook for family.
Mr. Jeseberg has had both of my kids in class and I feel that he is one of the most important influences on my children's education. Both of my kids credit Mr. Jeseberg with their knowledge of the constitution, their responsibilities as citizens and their sense of history.
Mr. Jeseberg has had an impact that reaches far beyond just the local community. Louisiana may have a population of approximately 3000 but the students he has taught over the years have branched out across the country. The sense of history, responsibility, and citizenry that he has inspired in these learners has had an immeasurable positive impact on our society as a whole. Every time Calvin shows up on a Saturday or before sunrise during the work week to place flags in memorial of a historic event our students are reminded of what it means to be a patriot. I can't think of a more deserving candidate for this award.
Very respected nice guy would do anything for you. Know he cares about children and working with them to succeed.
Calvin always has a joke ready to share with you. He is committed to making a difference in his students lives through his teaching and by example. We appreciate his sense of humor and his dedication to his students. CONGRATULATIONS Calvin!!!
Mr. Jesberg is one of the most caring teachers I have worked with, and that has taught my children. He goes above and beyond in the classroom. In addition, he is very supportive of spots and extracurricular activities.. Whether cooking or being present. His displays of the American flags is just one example of his commitment to the community. I am proud to to have worked with him and had him teach my children. Thank you, Mr. Jesberg.
Mr. Jesberg is an amazing teacher. His teaching abilities are like no other, he makes you get it no matter how hard or easy things maybe. He makes the classes fun has always done that and throughout the years taught the same way. You can sit and have a conversation with him and he will explain it simple as day and you still don’t understand he will sit there until you do. He is comical and has a tie for almost everyday of the year! Mr. Jesberg has had a huge impact on our school, every year he volunteers his time to set flags out for Flag day and Veterans Day. He volunteers his time making announcements at our football games and our basketball games, volunteers cooking for certain organizations. He is an A one teacher and deserves this award.
My Jrsburh had all three of my girls. He was always upbeat and made an impression on each.
