Megan Hurford was nominated by an anonymous colleague.

Ms. Hurford is a positive asset to CES staff and especially the CES students. She assists students with their social and emotional needs, and she builds strong relationships with students using her kind rapport and compassion to help them succeed. She has developed a calm, quiet atmosphere in the W.I.N. room, which stands for the What I Need room. This is such a positive place for students to go when they are in need of a different, safe setting to de-escalate behaviors.

Ms. Hurford works with many of the most challenging students when they are dis-regulated and helps with returning them to a state of regulation. She has such a positive demeanor with all students, and respects every student at all times. She has established many positive relationships with CES students, and had a positive impact on their school day at CES. Ms. Hurford always has a positive growth mindset with the students and staff. She demonstrates her ethical standards as well as her high expectations for each and every student. Without her positive impact, many CES students would not experience the success needed every day in the classroom.

Megan and I worked together pretty closely last year. I saw firsthand how passionate she is about her job but even more, how much heart she puts into her students and learning new ways to help them. Megan’s role at the school was brand new and she is doing amazing work. CES is lucky to have her!

Megan Speaks very passionately about her work with students. Anyone who hears her talk knows that what she does is not just a job, but a passion. Megan has so much to offer students. The level of trauma children are experiencing today requires a person that can show them love and respect while building their self worth and hold them accountable at the same time. Though Megan has not been doing this work long, it is evident she is doing what she is meant to do.
