LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Amy Ruth was nominated by an anonymous family member.

Ms. Ruth has a big heart for all of her students. She cares about each and every one of them and gives everyone the benefit of the doubt. She considers what students might have going on at home and in their personal lives. Ms. Ruth has provided for students who have lost parents and who have parents who aren’t really around. She is a very good teacher because she doesn’t give up on teaching her kids, either.

Ms. Ruth was recently chosen to do group interviews for a new school principal. She was with the superintendent and among other educational leaders. This proves that she has shown great leadership in her school, and that the district's administration approves and value her input and opinions. Over her many years of teaching, she has taught grades 4-8 and knows how to work with kids and teenagers  

Ms. Ruth not only teaches her kids everything they need to know about family and consumer science to pass the class, but she also discusses real-life issues. She talks about the dangers of vaping and too much screen time. She teaches kids how to interact with each other by making them put their phones away and having them do group activities or games. Ms. Ruth teaches manners and how to be respectful to other kids and adults.

"Amy has the biggest heart of anyone I know, and she genuinely cares about her students and their well-being," said her nominator. "She is a great teacher and doesn’t allow anyone to fail. If she is able to help, she won’t allow her students' personal problems to go unnoticed or unattended to. She has the biggest heart for her students that I’ve ever seen from a teacher. She is a caring, nurturing leader who is making a difference in the lives of her students and many others. Amy Ruth is the most amazing teacher I’ve ever had and have ever known."
