Lakisha Barnaby was nominated by her principal, Trenn Russell.
Mrs. Barnaby is a LifeChanger! She takes time to address the needs of any student or staff member who comes her way. She's compassionate and firm. Mrs. Barnaby gives great advice because she listens. She's always willing to go the extra mile for the people she encounters. Students feel safe and supported with her. They know they can depend on her to be there for them.
"I believe Mrs. Barnaby makes a difference every single day she steps on campus," said Russell. "I see her impact, and I'm grateful that our students and staff have her in their corner."
Mrs. Barnaby is an amazing person who continues to support the teachers, scholars, parents, and community. Her genuine smile make everyone feel that she is very caring, inviting, and ready for whatever comes her way. She is making this school year an amazing year.
Mrs. Barnaby you are such a loving and patient person. You have the heart to tackle any problem that a student or students send your way. You have shown much love and compassion to both staff and students. Mrs. Barnaby is such a life changer, she will go above and beyond to make students feel safe here at Heritage Elementary. She works hard to ensure parents , students and staff to feel comfortable here at Heritage. She's is one of our Husky Hero at our school. I couldn't be the administrator I am without the support and guidance from such a fabulous counselor. She is the true meaning of a person that is all in and without a doubt committed to doing what is best for learners. I couldn't think of anyone more deserving of this nomination as she has been a LifeChanger for me alone. Thank you Mrs. Barnaby for all you do for the students, staff and community.
As a first-year teacher and new to the school and on top of that starting in the middle of the year. Mrs. Barnaby has been extremely patient with me. She goes above and beyond to ensure I have all the resources to assist me with educating my scholars. If I ever have a question that may be out of her normal zone she puts me in touch with the most skilled person to assist me. She doesn't just say contact such and such. She does the connection for me which helps me extremely as I don't know too many individuals around the building. She works closely with me when I have concerns about one of my students and gives me the best advice on how to address the situation. Shes's incredibly caring, kind and knows exactly how to relate to others even in difficult situations. Mrs. Barnaby ROCKS!
Mrs. Barnaby is so dedicated to her job. She is Always willing to talk to a student, parent or a teacher about any situation. She is helpful and kind. There is no doubt she is a life changer because she juggles a family and her job successfully. She enjoys what she does and is good at it. She is a true champion.

It is not easy trying to describe a woman who gives 110% to her profession and family. Heritage Elementary would not be the same without her, she is truly a blessing to have on our campus.

Lakisha Barnaby is a Life Changer. She works tirelessly to meet the needs of students each and every day. She's comforting kids who lost a loved one. She's ensuring the safety of those who have been abused. She's helping students resolve conflict. She advocates for our students and helps students who have emotional and behavior issues. She's their safe place. You probably think I'm done, but I'm not because she makes a difference in the lives of our staff too. They know that when they're facing a difficult time, dealing with tragedy in their own lives, she's also there for them. She's loved by many because she loves everyone.
Lakisha Barnaby deserves to be awarded the Life Changer of the Year Award.
