Kathy Ford received multiple nominations from her colleagues. The following profile contains text from each nomination.

Mrs. Ford is an essential part of the Kennedy Elementary School team.  She works daily with both students and staff to ensure reading intervention needs are addressed for all students.  She collaborates with staff and is willing to train or assist them in any way to benefit students.  

Mrs. Ford is a veteran teacher who has been part of many positive changes that have happened at Kennedy during her time at the school. She has been an educator for over 30 years, teaching kindergarten, first grade, and currently Title 1 reading. Additionally, she currently serves on the Building Leadership Team and our GEI Team. She is a positive role model for all to follow.

“Kathy is one of the most passionate people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting,” said Kristee Bernd, a colleague. “She loves our building, our students, and our staff...She is a mentor to so many of us and is always willing to help us better our instruction and use our data to meet the needs of our student . We are so lucky to work with her. 

“Kathy is our most valuable resource with our MTSS process as we work to help our struggling students,” said an anonymous colleague. “She works with students in small groups and one-on-one to distinguish their needs and helps to fill those gaps...She is someone I admire and hope to emulate in my own teaching career.”

Mrs. Ford is a leader for Kennedy Elementary School, working endlessly to ensure the success of reading intervention that is provided for all students. Mrs. Ford works daily with staff, to ensure data is constantly being reviewed, and to ensure students are consistently receiving quality reading intervention instruction. In addition to this time consuming role, Mrs. Ford serves on our Building Leadership Team, and has been instrumental in helping to lead many positive changes that have been a much needed transition for Kennedy Elementary School. Mrs. Ford also serves on our building General Education Team, ensuring all students who struggle with academics and/or behavior, are provided strategies and accommodations that will ensure their success in school. No child is left behind when Mrs. Ford is part of their life! Mrs. Ford is a veteran teacher who has helped to build a family at Kennedy. Our building and our success would not be the same without her.
