Kelly Uyeda was nominated by an anonymous student.
"Mrs. Uyeda is one of the teachers I have known the longest throughout my high school career," said the nominator. "Since my freshmen year, she has supported my participation in multiple National History Day programs, taken the time to review my projects, and chaperoned me on two trips to Washington D.C. These activities have been a defining factor in my development as a model student. Without them, I would not be as proficient in research, public speaking, or my overall ability to remain dedicated to my work. Additionally, my participation has blessed me with many opportunities and precious memories. Last summer, I had the honor of presenting my research on Yeishun Allen Soken, a World War II veteran from Hawaii, to our local news station. In my trips to D.C., I was able to visit famous monuments, museums, and meet people from all around the world. All of this would not have been possible without Mrs. Uyeda's support."
"On top of providing academic support, Mrs. Uyeda has also become a great friend who I can always rely on," said the nominator. "Her classroom is not only a place to learn, but a place where I feel like a belong, and a place I feel comfortable in. She truly cares about the whole student."
