Mrs. Kaldor is a fantastic example of a LifeChanger. She guides students in their classrooms, at small group meetings in her office, on the cross country course, in her community, and across the globe. She makes sure students have academic support when they struggle, social support when they are loners, stamina to finish a race, roofs over their heads and food in their tummies.
Mrs. Kaldor has tremendous school spirit and shows her Railroader Pride by participating in dress up days, High Five Friday's, and motivating staff videos for students and their families. She meets students' needs not only within her school walls. She reaches out into her community to aid families who may be struggling to meet basic needs such as food and transportation.

Lifechanger, life coach, life director, life saver--Brooke Kaldor is a LIFE FORCE. As a guidance counselor for hundreds of kids in grades 4-7, Brooke sees, hears, and understands adolescent behavior. However, she is not just an adult presence for kids, she is a catalyst for positive change and a problem solver. Whether it is in the classroom, school or community her can do attitude, pragmatic problem solving skills and her unending sense of hope always are appreciated. She is a super hero that doesn't wear a cape. When a colleague died of cancer a few years ago she didn't bemoan the loss, but instead celebrated her spirit. During this tough time she told people to find hope during the tough times, be there for your friends and family, and most importantly be kind. Need a ride--she'll pick you up. Need social skills--she will demonstrate, teach, reteach, and send you out in the community to test your skills. Need support during a difficult time--she listen. Need a laugh--she tell you a tale. When teachers are frustrated with a child or an adult, Brooke has the ability to find a positive solution to what always seems like an impossible situation. She enjoys life, she values life, she is a life changer.
A couple years ago, I had to go to one of my kids conference at their school. At that moment I was in a very tough situation, me and my family. When all of a sudden an amazing human came towards me.Her name was Brooke Kaldors. Normally it's very hard for me to trust in someone. But when she talked to me, from that moment I knew I could trust in her. Like a friend and like a counselor. I am so grateful to have her as a friend. She always has something to give. Without expecting anything in return. Those are the people that really deserve all of our support. One day I asked God if I had an angel. Now I know the answer. God gave me the answer. Mrs Kaldor is a great human being willing to help anyone that needs it. May God bless her always and I am grateful that she is in mine and my kids life. If I could give a recongnization to anyone, with no thought and doubt I would give it to her. Brooke I would like you to win because you have so much to give to people who need it. We love you so much.
Mrs. Kaldor definitely deserves this award. She is one of the nicest people I know. She is really good at her job and the whole school loves her. She has also helped me a lot. When I was new at this school she tried her hardest to make me feel at home as quick as she could. She also has helped through some other tough times and I think the whole school can agree that Mrs. Kaldor has changed their life for the good.

Mrs. Kaldor truly is a Life Changer. She is always there to talk to me, bring me up or just give me a hug. She makes me laugh and smile if I was having a bad day or feeling sad. When I first came to this school I didn't know very many people. She helped me to find the best of friends and will always be there for me if I need her. Mrs. Kaldor, you are the BEST. You are an amazing person and you can always put a smile on someone's face. A day may start off terrible for someone but with just one stop in your room, you can turn that persons day around. Mrs.Kaldor is amazing she has touched my friends I very helpful ways. Like giving my friends rides home if they stay late. She is very motivating and she does a very good job encouraging my older brother in cross county. She really deserves this a lot. I have been in drama and she is helping me through it.

When my friends are in some arguments you are always there to help them make the right choice by walking away and not taking it personally. Mrs. Kaldor is always there no matter how we feel and what we've done. I think she deserves this award because you are always so positive, motivating, & really kind. If Mrs. Kaldor gets this award I am going to be so happy!
I remember when I first switched schools, Mrs. Kaldor welcomed me. It was really nice to feel welcome on my first day because I was kind of having a tough time. I thank her for that, she truly is a life changer. Our school wouldn't be the same without her!
Mrs. Kaldor helped me with my parents' divorce and was my cross country coach. She definitely deserves this award for the constant smile on her face.

Mrs.Kaldor is a smart, kind, helpful person, she helps anyone in need even if it takes money out of her own pocket. I should know Mrs.Kaldor has helped me and my family through the hardest times when my mother had to go to the mental hospital I had to go to my aunts but I wouldn't be able to go to school anymore but Mrs.Kaldor helped me by driving her car and came and get me any my little sister and brought us to school. Then the school helped us by having a buss come and get me. The school has helped a lot of people that I know of they would take kids shopping if they are in need of clothing and they give food to kids in need of food. To get back to Mrs.Kaldor she's always helping others even if they act like they are strong when they are braking and she never gives up even if the sun isn't at the end of the road. She helps people find their way through the hardest days she helps kids find their hidden talents and shows them they are special in their own way. Mrs.Kaldor is a good person to everyone she takes care of others like family and that will never change from Mrs.Kaldor she has a golden heart that the love inside she shares with everyone.

Mrs.Kaldor is a phenomenal teacher that always makes you smile. She puts others before herself and she always looks stunning. She is very understanding and will help you in your darkest times. Mrs.Kaldor makes all of her lessons entertaining while we can still learn important skills. She is a glass half full kinda person and always finds the joy in the world. Mrs. Kaldor is witty and easy to be around. She helps kids problem solve and prepare for the future. Mrs. Kaldor also gives up many hours of free time helping kids find warm clothes, helping out at Peace Church, and other organizations at school. She has helped form our school and she has had a major impact on mine, and many other students, lives. Everyday Mrs. Kaldor makes an impact and inspires you to also.
Mrs. Kaldor is a majestic guidance counselor. She helps the school, but most importantly the students, and sometimes even the teachers! Mrs. Kaldor is up for a challenge, she helps out with activities, such as the color run, camp manitou scholarships, fundraisers, and much more. Not to mention she looks great while doing it! Mrs. Kaldor is a role model and a life changer.

Brooke is never seen without a smile on her face. She goes out of her way to make students and staff feel like school is a safe, happy place to be and gives them the self confidence they need to get through the day.
Brooke Kaldor changes lives and our world is, without a doubt, a better place because of her. Those who are fortunate enough to be part of her "tribe" can rest assured that she will protect, care for, encourage, support, provide for, and love each and every one. Her tribe is extensive, non exclusive, requires no prerequisites, has zero expectations, and comes with one guarantee...she loves all. It doesn’t matter how old you are, how much money you make, what color your skin is, or where you live...Brooke will be there for you. As our school counselor, her job is to recognize students in need and provide resources, coping skills, and support. However, Brooke exceeds those expectations day after day after day. She changes lives by walking hand in hand with families, she doesn’t just watch from the sidelines. Brooke sees a problem and doesn’t just make note of it, she figures out a way to solve it! Brooke is such a beautiful person inside and out! It is apparent that she truly takes care of all of our children in Altoona. She helps in every way possible. Brooke has an amazing soul and we are lucky to have her on staff!
One day I was all alone at lunch with no one to sit by and then Mrs. Kaldor introduced me to some friends and now I chat with them in the Hall. Thanks Mrs.k you rock!!!
One day last summer, I had to haul down my garbage when the garbage truck was about 2 homes down, so I had to this fast! Mrs. Kaldor was jogging by and helped me haul the rest down just in time!

Brooke is one of the most positive people I know! She lives everyday with the goal of making a difference, no matter how small. I have seen first hand how she works with students to promote positive change in their world. She teaches her students about growth mindset, and about how we might not be able to reach a goal...yet. She not only counsels them, but gives them the personal tools that they will carry with them to deal with tough issues, and achieve lifetime goals. She was my son's Cross Country coach this year. At every meet, you could find her at the starting line cheering, at the mid point cheering, and at the end point cheering every athlete on until the last runner crossed the finish line. Brooke changes the life of everyone she meets, for the better. She is certainly deserving of this award!
Mrs. Kaldor is very deserving of this recognition. She goes above and beyond her job description to help not only kids, their families, but the teachers she works with. I have had students that have moved out of the district that I have been very concerned about and she seems to find the time to see how they are doing. She has a heart of gold. She is very respected and cared for by students and staff. Way to go Brooke!!!

Mr. Kaldor helped me out with the problems. If I was ever depressed she would help out, and in my opinion she is the best counselor that I've ever met in my life. If you need someone to talk to you could talk to her and she would listen to you. So I am happy that she got this award I think that she deserves it. I think that everyone in the Altoona school district will agree with me.
Mrs Kaldor is a very nice person. She helps kids sort out their problems and she is a great teacher at our school. She is a very good counselor. I don't know what the school would be like without. She brightens the room when she walks in. I would not know what the school would be like with out her, she really is a great teacher!
She is my guidance counselor and she is Amazing! She thinks of everything and when I walk into her room it makes me smile because she has bright colorful photos and I love it! It is like when you walk in you just can't be sad or mad, just HAPPY!
Ms. Kaldor helps us at the Altoona Intermediate School. She has helped me and my friends with two problems. We were getting hacked on our slide show. She said we should make a new slide show, we did and it worked! My friend was getting threatened. Then the kid threatened me and the rest of my friends.She talked to the kid then the kid apologized to us. She is a really good guidance counselor to have!
Mrs.Kaldor has always been there for me and all of the students here at AMS. She is always so positive and encouraging to others, and is such a great person. She is truly a Life Changer and if I ever need anything she? the person to talk to. She's always there to listen and can change your mood from sad to happy in an instint. Mrs. Kaldor is the most nice person I have ever met. She is definitely the person for the Life Changer or the year award. Every time I see her in the halls she has a smile on her face. Every once and awhile she likes to crack a joke. During my last year in 6th grade she helped me through some tough times. Every time I needed help I would just walk into her office and she would help me right then and there. She helped me on my first day of school in 5th grade. Something cool is that she was the person that showed me around on orientation day. Also she was one of the cross country teachers on the team I was on. She is a very motivating person. I have know Brooke for over 15 years. She is not only a colleague but someone I am fortunate enough to call my friend. Over the past 15 years we have been through many ups and downs together. She lost her wonderful mother to breast cancer and then I lost my sister to the same battle. She was there by my side right to the end. She is the most uplifting, positive person I know. No matter what she has going on in her life she ALWAYS finds time for others. She spreads herself thin to make sure that others needs are met and never gives it a moments thought. Brooke is the most unselfish human I know and everyone who knows her is a better person because of her. She is definitely a life changer....as a coworker, parent, counselor and friend.

I can always count on her whenever. With everything going on at home she made sure my siblings and I were okay.
Earlier this year we had a death and I was able to go to her and talk and I felt like I could be myself. With my friends we had a bumpy road she helped us talk it out. She always gets involved. Mrs Kaldor has always been very attentive to my grandchildren’s needs. As a grandparent raising kids I expected to be at a very different level of child raising. This is and was not the case. She has a broad scope of knowledge and knows how to apply it. It amazes me how many different students she helps with patience and understanding. She is very supportive to the parents as well. She truly is a life changer.
This lady is a saint. To be fair.. I'm biased . Ella es mi prima. We grew up together... And went through all of those crazy teenage trials together.... She was so strong when her mom was struggling with breast cancer... And her honesty and transparency throughout the process made me a better support system for my sister-in-law. Because of Brooke..I buckled down and wasn't afraid to dive in to be a chemo buddy. That wasn't only life changing for me... But for others as well. Brooke is good at the ripple effect. She inspires you to do more. She traveled to Guatemala with me to help build homes... And still helps support our families there. I had signs made for Christmas this year... That said "what if you are the blessing?" Because of Brooke. She was struggling with some needs a family in the school district had.... And wanted to know why everything was against them... And I said.... What if you are the blessing? What if you are the good works? In the book Rhinestone Jesus... The woman asks God why he isn't doing something... Why he is letting something happen... And he says...I am doing something. I sent you. Brooke is a gift to anyone that interacts with her. I'm proud to call her mine.:)

I could not agree with this nomination of "LifeChanger"more! Brooke humbly above and beyond in all aspects of her job! The students and staff at the Altoona School District are so blessed to work alongside her. Her impact on the students and community cannot be measured!
I am a student at Altoona Middle School, Mrs. Kaldor is a great person. She has helped my family through the tough times and has also helped my friends through there tough times. Mrs. Kaldor is definitely the right person to talk to whether it's about issues at home or school, or sharing about your weekends and summer breaks! If Mrs. Kaldor receives this award I know that it would be greatly appreciated, by students, staff and also herself!!
Mrs. Kaldor is a LifeChanger because of her deep desire to always be available to help other students with any issue. She will stop at anytime in her day when needed. Mrs. Kaldor IS a LifeChanger for my daughter (and myself). My daughter developed anorexia last year while in 8th grade. Without the help of Mrs. Kaldor (whom my daughter trusts, respects and admires) I honestly don't think my daughter could have finished out the school year. Mrs. Kaldor not only helped during school hours (overseeing my daughter's lunch was eaten, snack was in place and checking up on her many times for me) but she still texts me about her and helps out whenever needed. She has taken my daughter (and her friends!) out to lunch during the school day to show how eating can be a good, positive social event, picked all of them up during the summer to spend time and still bops into the high school this year to see my daughter. Because of her, my daughter was able to lead a somewhat "normal" life during school and was able to attend school events (like Valley Fair, field trips, etc.) because she graciously went to make sure my daughter ate and drank and was medically stable. She truly is an angel in our lives and we will be forever grateful for her kindness, caring, compassion and positive outlook to keep pushing my daughter in her very long road to recovery!
I totally agree with the description above...Mrs Kaldor was very supportive of my daughter when she struggled with issues connected to my divorce. She has a good feel for the children's needs and is easy to communicate with. I love that she is involved in Cross Country and other school activities!
