Michelle Lizun was nominated by a parent, Tom Corner.

"My daughters have been blessed to have Michelle Lizun as their kindergarten and first grade teacher at Russell Elementary School," said Corner. "Mrs. Lizun is patient, compassionate, and a wonderful influence on her students."

As most school teachers know, students have an abundance of energy and joy which they bring to class. It can be challenging to keep the students' focus, but Mrs. Lizun has a gentle, loving spirit with her students. She magically holds her students' attention and focus while allowing their individual personalities to blossom and grow. She includes the students' parents in her class, whether it's by serving as mystery reader, or helping with the various holiday celebrations throughout the year.

"As someone whose parents were teachers, I understand and embrace the importance of leaving a loving, positive impact with students because they will carry that love and kindness into their adult years," said Corner. "This is exactly what Mrs. Lizun does for her students."
