I have watched Jim teach and coach over the years. He is the epitome of a role model for his students. His love for his school and community flowed through it all. A man of his character is a blessing to all he touches. His humble nature allowed him to be an exceptional educator. His daily efforts will be missed, but will still live on in the lives of those he touched. His creativity and ability to work well with everyone allowed him to implement many different influential programs over the years. He supported the total school program. This honor is well deserved!

Jim Sanford is so deserving of this award.

Coach Sanford was my P.E. coach all throughout elementary school. Don’t ya know, as life would have it, many millennia later, both of my girls just had him during each of their first years at DES. I loved being able to tell them stories about my own time spent up on the P.E. hill in blazing sun...while also providing a first hand account as reminder to request bathroom trips w/plenty of time spare. (The walk down that hill is seemingly much farther for a 1st grader whose destination is the restroom back down on earth.) I’m sure my memory is failing me, but I can’t immediately recall ever seeing the man mad, but certainly never raise his voice in anger. His own kiddos may object of course, but the man is gold!!

Coach Sanford was my coach, my children's coach and now my colleague. He is such a hard worker who put so much love and positive support into the Dadeville schools. He will be greatly missed and DES will not be the same!
