Tammy DeWitt was nominated by her colleague, Nicole Shipman.

A great chemistry teacher can ignite students' passion for education. Ms. DeWitt set her school on fire with her love and passion for teaching chemistry.  She was known as the zero period princess. Students came to school early to take advanced level chemistry so that they had time to complete the labs and learn the material. She tutored students on her lunch break, stayed late to help struggling students, and even sponsored a club where kids could learn how to make greeting cards to express their creative side.

Ms. DeWitt encouraged every teacher, staff member, student, and administrator to be better and do more for kids. She was passionate and genuine.  She gave the best hugs, and her tiny little frame and big smile were notorious for brightening everyone's day.

"Tammy is one in a million when it comes to teachers, and her retirement will be noticed in the future," said Shipman. "I am honored to not only have worked with this lady for the past decade, but to call her my friend."
