Music that Describes Azineth

Azineth Buan was nominated by Josephine Sibayan, a member of her community.

"Mrs. Buan has been employed by the Port Arthur Independent School District for eight years. I first met her at the church where we both attended the worship service," said Sibayan. "As an officer in the church, I have seen how dedicated she is in performing her duties. She is always part of the many activities and programs launched by the church administration, especially when it comes to helping the children in their education. Since then, I have always been impressed with her level of enthusiasm for anything that advances her students, along with her personal quest for academic excellence."

Mrs. Buan is truly a dynamic leader who leads by example. She always goes above and beyond her responsibilities. Through her leadership, the mathematics department has accomplished numerous projects to extend the students’ learning outside the classroom. They created the “Math Stairway Project," as Mrs. Buan called it, which displays the level of complexity of mathematical concepts as one climbs up the stairs. More importantly, it makes every student and staff member learn a math concept outside of the classroom setting. Mrs. Buan has also developed an incentive program that focuses on rewarding students’ positive behavior, attendance, and excellence in their education.

On March 3rd, 2020, she showed her creativity and leadership once again by integrating the Pi Day celebration and Mathematics Battle of Talents to Parent Night.  Students competed by showing their talents in composing poems and songs using math concepts. It was fascinating to observe how art and creativity were integrated into mathematics.

Mrs. Buan has also led the department in designing a well-organized tutorial program that is still being successfully implemented today. She created a tutorial packet for State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) Algebra 1 that her colleagues in the department called “Buan’s Packet."

“Mrs. Buan has been instrumental to the success of the many students who pass the state-mandated test," said Dr. Glenn Mitchell, Memorial High School principal. "More importantly, she has been instrumental to the success of the entire campus to move out of Improvement Required (IRd) status and meet the State’s standards.”

As a dynamic leader, one of Mrs. Buan’s goals is to make sure her department keeps abreast of growing technological changes. She knows how technology can have a strong impact on students’ learning. Her passion and determination in making this happen successfully led her to write two grants that were both approved. One grant was for the math department to have the latest calculators called TI-Nspires. She made sure that teachers have the knowledge and confidence in using the technology in their classrooms by untiringly and unwaveringly facilitating training during district-wide professional development and during her department’s Professional Learning Community (PLC) time. The second grant was approved for additional technological tools that the students use in exploring the true applications of math concepts in her classroom.  This device, the Calculator Based Ranger (CBR), according to Mrs. Buan, helped the students collect actual data that they can analyze to determine mathematical and physical qualities, instead of using data from a textbook.

Mrs. Buan is devoted to her students. She humbly takes pride in creating a classroom environment that is conducive to teaching and learning. She is constantly looking for innovative techniques that promote the students’ interest in learning. Mrs. Buan is excellent at making learning applicable to everyday experiences. She is extremely organized, self-motivated, and reliable. Mrs. Buan exemplifies all the positive aspects of a master teacher who meets her students’ academic needs. She always goes the extra mile for her school and students, and she even tutors many students after school.

“I have witnessed her enthusiasm in teaching and her compassion in motivating students to be successful," said Dr. Mitchell. "She always reminds me of someone who is willing to teach on the streets with nothing and will still make the students learn.  She also transfers her competitiveness to the Math Interscholastic League (UIL) team who are very fortunate to train under her leadership. As a principal, it makes me proud to have such an outstanding teacher who wholeheartedly performs her duties and responsibilities for the benefit of students and staff. She not only extends her expertise in training teachers in our district, but to other districts, as well. Mrs. Buan also served as a speaker and presenter at the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching (CAMT), where she shared her savvy math skills with many attendees.”

Even though she's working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs. Buan still makes sure her students are not hindered from learning. She uses her expertise in technology and her compassionate heart to reach her students.  According to her, she may not see her students in the classroom, but through Google Meet and Zoom, she is able to teach as if she is in the classroom with her students.

She has received many awards:

  • Outstanding Teacher of the Year 2000
  • Rookie of the Year 2014
  • Senior Top 10 Student Favorite Teacher of the Year
  • MHS Teacher of the Year 2017
  • PAISD Teacher of the Year 2017
  • REGION 5 Teacher of the Year 2017
  • REAUD Excellence in Education Award 2018
  • HEB Excellence in Education Award State Finalist 2019

She has also been nominated for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching for 2019. All of these awards prove her compassion and dedication in helping students

"I take great pleasure in knowing such an educator who is a LifeChanger, not only to her students and other teachers, but to all whom she interacts with," said Sibayan.

Mrs. Buan is one of the most loyal, warmhearted, and passionate people I have met. We appreciate you. Your sacrifices don’t go unnoticed. My son stated, "you made Stastic/ Math so easy to understand." You truly care about your students. You have and still are making a huge impact on every student who crosses your path and as well as adults. I admire what you do. You are most deserving of this award and more. Thank you for keeping your faith and not ashamed to say what you stand for and your beliefs. We salute you and honor you!

Mrs. Buan is the most kindhearted teacher I’ve ever met. She’s taught me many things in her Statistics AP class as well as gave me to motivation to learn. I’ve never really enjoyed math or anything with numbers and letters combined, until her class this year! Her energy and efforts for her student, peers, and the community can be greatly seen in her efforts. I truly appreciate her, because without her, my senior year wouldn’t be the same. I’m so thankful towards her and her willpower to see everyone succeed. She’s the best!! <3

I would have to say that Mrs. Buan is one of the best math teachers that I have ever had in all this time I have been in school. Mrs. Buan pushes her students to become better than they were yesterday. She is patient and caring towards her students. I like the teaching style that Mrs.Buan provides because she is very thorough with the way she teaches to where everyone in the class can understand. She never left anyone behind when teaching. When I didn't not understand the lesson or my peers, she would stop and go over the topic again until we understood it completely. I was intimidated going into her AP Statistics class because of what other students would tell me. However, it was quite the opposite of what I was expecting. She is the kindest teacher who worries about her students future. Her grading is lenient and she does give criticism on my work, but that is only to help me improve.

I met Ms Buan last year because I needed to pass the Algebra Staar so she was my tutoring teacher and the truth is that she is very kind, very good person and is very patient, thanks to her I managed to pass my test even though I don't understand English very well but I did it anyway because she is very good at her job

As cheesy as this sounds, Mrs. Buan has had a large impact in my life. She is, hands down, one of the greatest teacher's I have had and she has been a positive impact in my life! She was my AP Statistics teacher who ALWAYS went above and beyond! Growing up, a lot of the teachers in my Educational Career were those who were strict and could not teach because they were busy enforcing the rules or those who wanted to teach but could not enforce the rules. It was never in between. However, Mrs. Buan somehow had that balance. Even though some people may disagree, I honestly loved her Teaching Style. She never let anyone get left behind and would take constructive criticism if necessary. When I was a Senior in High School, I was going through a lot. I was dealing with taking care of my family from the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, trying to figure out exactly what was I going to do with my life, Senioritis, and many other things--just typical Coming-of-Age drama and I was so burnt out. I, along with my group of friends, were always thinking, "do we really have to do any of these things? We are in Top 10, we would still graduate in Top 10% if our grades really did drop." However, that never came true thanks to Mrs. Buan's class. It was what kept me together in my final year of High School and pushed me to push through Senior year, even though it was one of the tougher classes I took. Being a college student now, it makes me appreciate everything she did for my peers and I when we were her students.

Ms Azineth Buan is a teacher who has the patience of a saint and the heart of a teacher. She has an unrivaled ability to take on the most difficult learner and make learning fun for them. I am constantly seeing her in action in helping young members in the church learn and overcome their self limiting beliefs in learning. Azineth is trusted with key positions in the church as Deaconess, Finance Officer, and Secretary for the Society of Communicators and Networkers because of her integrity and devotion in everything she does. No one is deserving of this prestige and honor more than Azineth Buan.

To the Selection Committee: It is indeed a privilege and a pleasure to recommend Mrs. Azineth Buan for the Life Changer of the Year Award. Mrs. Buan, in her current role as a Classroom Teacher/Leader in the Port Arthur Independent School District, passionately serves high school students and partners with peers and administrators to raise student achievement. A few examples of her service and partnerships include: Master Teacher, Mentor Teacher, District-wide Staff Developer, Interventionist, and Curriculum Writer. She is always well-prepared for tasks, viewing each as an opportunity to serve and grow professionally. I find her knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment principles to be excellent. Most impressive is her ability to use her knowledge and skill set to build capacity in others. Mrs. Buan is highly skilled in terms of executing lessons effectively, carrying out meaningful assessments for students, and using assessment data to improve performance and organizational effectiveness. Through her teaching and leadership, students grow academically and gain greater confidence in their abilities. Additionally, Mrs. Buan has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is extremely organized and reliable, and has a wonderful rapport with students, staff, and parents. All, who work with her, sense her love of learning and her commitment to serve. Azineth Buan teaches from the heart and transforms lives! Sincerely, Dr. Kim Vine, Chief Academic Officer

The two words that come to my mine when I think of Mrs. Buan are "Great" and "Teacher." I am so very impressed with Mrs. Buan that I always use her as an example of a positive instructional leader. So you ask, "What is so special about her as a Teacher?" Mrs. Buan's expectation is that all students will succeed and she shows her determination for this to happen by working with students before and after school and by working with the parents to always keep the home and school connection. I have seen this teacher very upset when she found out that one of her students would not be in town to take a very important test. She called the parent to see if there was any way that their trip could be delayed. Mrs. Buan gets results because she cares and caring helps to make great teachers.

Mrs. Azineth Buan is a leader who is caring, compassionate, & intellectual. She is an individual who shows determination in everything she gets involved in. Whether it be personal/professional relations, student/ parent, with Azineth, she gives off that positive vibe that she is there to help you and has no intensions of any type of self-gain on her part. She truly has a genuine heart of kindness to help family, friends, community, and more.

I have known Azineth Buan as a woman of faith. She carries her faith in all aspects of her life. She is deeply devoted to her family as mother to 2 children and a loving wife to her industrious husband. A mentor to tutoring her children with their homework is her priority before retiring for the day. Above all she has instilled in her kids the sterling virtues that measures her success as a good mother. As a teacher, she is committed to teaching her students well. Dwelling on what she can do to give her students quality education. To accomplish her goal she goes the extra mile in effort and in time she devotes to teaching. With her great attitude, students would have received a strong academic foundation that will prepare them for the next level of subjects that they can approach with confidence and less fear.

Dr. T. Nelson IKEGUL Posted over a year ago

Teaching/Diversity Philosophy/Approach ICO Mrs Azineth. BUAN Mrs. Azimuth BUAN's teaching style is somewhat eclectic and resists a neat philosophical classification. What I will attempt to do is to identify some themes, which emerge from my observations and teaching styles as well as her connection with students and faculty/staff alike at the Memrial High School, Port Arthur, Texas and let others determine whether these themes constitute any coherent pattern. At the outset, I would state that teachers impart more by way of example than precept, and that students are very perceptive in recognizing when a teacher does not practice what he/she preaches. There are several values that Mrs BUAN tries to teach students, both by her words and her actions. Included among these are the following: the importance of organization, preparation, and homework; respect for other people and their views; the public service obligations of the lawyer; the value of clear and effective communication in both written and oral form; the importance of fair process; the centrality of equality, to name but a few. Another important theme of Mrs. BUAN's teaching is to emphasize the value of critical scholarship, which not only clearly describes the present state of the law but explores what the law should be. She makes a point of including in her in-house class notes (prepared from scratch and revised every year) the core of intellectual scholarship that questions and challenges the state of knowledge acquisition and transfer as presented by the behavioral and cognitive scientists. She also encourages students in their own research papers to move beyond the mere description of the present state of knowledge to make constructive suggestions for education reform. Nrs. BUAN has been gratified by the number of her students who have not only written their scholarly plans for change but have gone on to get them published. It is important for students and teachers to realize that pedagogy and scholarship are allies rather than enemies in the academic enterprise. While it is hard to say this without sounding like a cliché, IMrs Axineth BUAN tries to teach in a human and humane fashion. This is a theme that I articulated in her 2016 election as the MATHEMATICS DEPARTMENT HEAD|CHAIR at MHS. It's Mrs. BRIAn's belief that unless there is a climate of mutual respect in the classroom, students will be very reluctant to add to the conversation. I have been pleased that her formal evaluations and the informal student feedback would suggest that she has had some success in creating a learning environment in which students feel safe, yet stimulated. This means they are free to contribute to the class and develop their ideas. She likes to think that it is this human touch which explains the touchingly positive response to her winning of the “The Rookie Teacher of the Year Award” One of her objectives is to do her small part to humanize the teaching-learning process and remind students that education is really about tests scores and classrank. A final theme in her teaching, which I will emphasize, is teaching in an inclusive fashion. This theme of inclusiveness is reflected in her Curriculum Vitae, pedagogy, course innovations, peer evaluation, and continuing education. The best indications of her views on this topic could be well understood with this phrase: “To Teach Them ALL is to Know Them ALL and Teaching For Diversity Is Education for ALL.” This means who we teach, what we teach, and how we teach must take account of equity concerns and celebrate the diversity of our student body.

What can I say about Azineth Buan? Outstanding, driven, dedicated, professional, compassionate, energetic, innovative, a gifted and talented teacher. For seven years I have worked as a Math Inclusion teacher at Memorial High School. I have witness first hand her teaching techniques in action. Her enthusiasm and creativity is contagious. Students are inspired and motivated to learn. It's impressive to watch her develop teaching strategies to meet a student's learning style. She makes learning enjoyable. I can't think of anyone that's more deserving of this nomination. A pioneer that will open the door of opportunities for many students.

“If your gift is serving, devote yourself to serving others. If it is teaching, devote yourself to teaching others. If it is encouraging, devote yourself to encouraging others. If it is sharing, share generously. If it is leading, lead enthusiastically. If it is helping, help cheerfully”. Romans12:7-8 This is exactly what defines Mrs. Buan. She serves our Father almighty and His church tirelessly. Her devotions are to the Father, to her family and to her students. She leads not only by example, but also by principles. As one of the strong pillars of the church, she gives time to anoint and pray for our brethren who are sick. She goes to their houses and performs God’s miracles. We are one of those families whom she has touched by her healing hands. She and her family come by in our house every Sunday to pray and anoint my cancer-stricken daughter. We always look forward to the weekends because we know that we do not only receive God’s graces, blessings and miracles, but we also get to spend an afternoon with them. Driving an hour-and-a- half to church every Sunday with her family to fulfill their church duties is a commitment, a show of faith, and a promise of salvation. She is a lifechanger because she only does not change her students’s lives for the better, but also ours- her friends. Our faith has never been this strong and she is one God’s instruments to make sure that I do not drift away from our faith.

I have known Mrs. Buan, Azineth for quite some time now. I worked with her kids more often that I worked with Mrs. Buan. Her kids were the most respectful and obedient kids I have ever met. Once I saw how she interacts with her kids I then knew it was because of how Mrs.Azineth raised them. She was always so gentle and loving with her kids. It made me realize how I hope to one day become a mother like her. While I admire her role as a mother, she has also been supportive with every achievement I have. I used to perform as an organist at her local church. Something I did voluntarily due to my love for playing the organ and my membership in the church. In return, she made sure I was always well fed and safe due to my long drive (about two hours). Her thoughtfulness made me feel so secure. Although she is not entitled to provide gifts, she does so willingly and gracefully.

Mrs. Buan lived near my neighborhood back when I was still in high school. She wasn't particularly my teacher nor did I even attend the same school she was teaching at. However, Mrs. Buan has helped me both academically as a teacher and as a supportive friend. During the time I was taking geometry classes, I was struggling with a certain topic and it started to frustrate me. I reached out to Mrs. Buan regarding my problem and without second thoughts she willingly helped me. She gave me encouragement and reinforced my knowledge on the subject giving me more confidence in my upcoming test at the time. Even though she wasn't obligated to teach me, Mrs. Buan has taken an extra mile into helping me succeed in my high school career. With her positive attitude and readiness to support others, I believe that Mrs. Buan played a life-changing role not only in my life but also in others. It is a blessing to know her both as a friend and as a teacher.

As a Church officer, she continues to inspire and motivate the Church members in holding fast to their beliefs, as well as making a difference in their lives. She brings her teaching knowledge to her Church by being a leader and a role model. Her dedication that she has is far beyond anything expected, and she is truly deserving of this award. The most memorable teacher I have ever had! She was extremely supportive, helped me understand the lessons, and was very patient! Her teaching has impacted how I tackle my classes while I attend TSU! She is also one of the reasons I was able to be apart of the Thomas F Freeman honors college. Without her letter of recommendation, I wouldn’t have made it in! I know I’m not the only student who has had to ask her for letters of recommendation. She’s very professional and helpful, both in school or when you need a letter! I can not recommend her enough to anyone who needs to take an AP Class.

It was an honor to work with her during the event. In the hours we spent together in the Education booth, I learned so much about her work. It wasn’t just the strategies that she taught her students, or the various projects and UIL Meets that impressed me. What impressed me the most was, and still is, her passion for her work. Her passion is what sets her aside from other educators in the field. Through her passion, her students find success. And with that success, those students grow up inspired and motivated to be the best. There is no other person more deserving of this award than Azineth Buan. Her optimism, focus and consistent hard-work will inspire even the most non-committal person I know. Needless to say, she always manage to get everyone in the group give their best and “own” the task at hand. I have met countless hard-working individuals, but none compares to Ms. Azineth’s “touch” in motivating and driving people to excel. She’s one of a kind!

I admire how active she is at church, how supportive she is of her kids in all of their activities, and how she is always so eager to open her home to the youth leaders. Recently, I was really struggling in my statistics class and was in search of a tutor. My mom told me to ask Sis. Azineth for help and I’m so glad I did! She was so helpful despite her busy schedule and having her own students. Also, she said she’d never used excel for stats, but she took the time to learn it so that she could help me. And I am proud to say that I got an A in that class thanks to her! I think Ms. Azineth Buan is more than deserving of this award!

One of the best teacher that I have ever known! Azineth is loyal, dedicated to the core, innovative, collaborative and very passionate about what she loves the most - teaching! Her intentional approach to ensure that students will learn is something that every educator must posses, she has been a wonderful friend, in fact more than a friend to our family. She is the epitome of what a true, purposeful, intentional and a very passionate educator. In everything she does there is always excellence because she always strive for excellence, she will not settle for any less because she always believe that there is always way to improve things. What fascinates me the most is her attitude towards innovation, she is always willing to learn new things and move out of her comfort zone, but the best part of it is, she never ever thought of herself only, she shares her learning to her colleagues and friends. What a fantastic educator. Ms Buan has made significant impacts on the student’s of Memorial High School for the past eight years. Our students have made great gains in math under her direction State assessment were increased significantly through her direction Ms Buan is the department leader who does not request teachers to participate in any activities That she does not initiate herself She demands the best in each student and encourages them to always do their best Frequently works with students after school as a volunteer It is with great pride that I strongly support Ma Buan in her effort of recognition Truly a fantastic Woman Educator!

Azineth as a coteacher is reliable and trustworthy. She always exude determination and perseverance that she can rub on you everytime you work with her. She also is one of the few people that I know who never complain about work assigned to her wether she already has so many on her plate she still keeps on going. As a friend she is one person that you know you can count on to listen and help you in the best way she can. As a teacher she can easily win her students heart on the way she treats them individually, showing them how a difficult subject can be fun and exciting with all her motivations and instructional techniques and most importantly her genuine concern and care for her students.

I have gotten to know Ms. Buan through myQBook. myQBook provides online preparation programs in UIL/TMSCA Number Sense and Mathematics. Many years ago, I reached out to her and offered her myQBook programs to try it free for a couple of months with her students. Her students used the programs diligently and I knew that they would not be working on the programs without her support and encouragement. It is not very often that I see teachers who grab the opportunities that come their way to work with students outside of the regular school curriculum. UIL is extra work and most teachers just do not have the initiative to work with students on non mandatory work. She goes over and beyond to provide the much needed push to students. It would be a blessing for all students to find a gem of a teacher like Ms. Buan. I wish there were more sincere and dedicated teachers like her.

As your husband, I can't ask for more. You are the SUPERWOMAN of our family. No matter how tired you are from work, you always make sure that you take care of me and our two angels, Axel and Chi. I have witnessed how much you love helping others, especially your students. During this pandemic, you even went above and beyond your duties. There were no weekends, no night or day. Once students asked for help, you immediately jumped on the computer to help them. You gave your personal cellphone number because you believed that they needed an easy access to get in touch with you. Bringing what they needed like calculators and their binders from school to their mailbox is too much for me, but you never allowed me to stop you from doing that. You always say that your students need your help and always defended your students like your own kids. I remember you buying snacks and our own children were wondering because they don't like what you were getting, then you responded, "my other kids love this". Since then, we knew that if you are getting something different, those are for your "other kids". You have received many awards and God continues to reward you for all that you do but you still remain humble in spite of all that you have achieved. You deserve the best! We love you so much! God bless you and our entire family!

I would like to take this opportunity to not only express my sincere appreciation and gratitude for Azineth’s dedication and huge contribution for the success of the various works that we do in our Church organization - as a Chronicler, Finance officer, locale Buklod (organization of married couples) officer and just recently, as part of the District Christian Family Organization’s leadership core, but also to make known to all about her exceptional and admirable traits as a loving and supportive wife to Conrad, as a very responsible mom for her 2 equally bright and talented children, Axel and Aleenah, and as a top-notch Math educator in the Academe. In the past, I’ve had the chance to worked as an Assistant Vice-President in a large corporation with almost a thousand employees and have trained and mentored many talented individuals in our organization. If there is one person that I know who is truly deserving of this “Life-Changer” award, it is Azineth Buan. Thank you very much for making a big difference and for inspiring us Sister Neth! Throughout my high school years, I regard Mrs. Buan as the most hardworking, intelligent, and an influential teacher. As her former student, there were times I realized the skills Mrs. Buan taught me became fruitful during my college years and more to come. As a teacher, Mrs. Buan tries her best to accommodate students, while also encourage students to try their best even at things they are not good at. As a UIL competitor during my high school years, Mrs. Buan showed many of her great skill sets as a teacher to help those with a similar mindset, and for me personally, I have learned a great deal. Even though I might not be pursuing the same path as Mrs. Buan, there are times when I think back and be thankful for what she have taught me, and influenced me to think intellectually. And for that, I am eternally grateful. For me, she will always be an inspiration for me to look up to, the teacher that taught me the skills and mindset for growth. I share same respect for Mrs. Buan as much as I have for my parents, the person that raised me well during high school and helped me growth as a person.

I have always admired Sis. Azineth as a person. I admire how active she is in our church, how she is always so supportive of her kids and the various activities that they are involved in, and how she's always so welcoming to the youth leaders whenever we visit them in their home. It wasn't until I took a statistics class in my post-graduate program that I saw, firsthand, how much of a genius she is. I was really struggling in that class and my mom told me to ask Sis. Azineth for help and I am so glad I did. I sent her the questions via email and I told her that the work had to be shown through excel, she told me she used another program instead of excel, but that she would figure it out. And she did! And I am proud to say I got an A in that class thanks to Sis. Azineth for teaching me but also for encouraging me to learn for myself!

My Family have known Mrs. Buan and her family for several years now being that our families are members of the same Church Organization. Mrs. Buan has several offices in the Church which she devotes several hours in a week to perform her duties and attend all the activities launch by our Church Administration. Azineth is a wonderful person. She's always been a great help to the community by setting a good example to the members of the Church that she attends, the Iglesia Ni Cristo. I believe that it's truly important for an educator to be knowledgable about what they teach, but it's just as important for an educator to have strong morals and a strong faith in God, because this will produce well-rounded citizens of the future that are smart and God-fearing as well. Thus, Azineth is the type of teacher that imparts knowledge, and wisdom, as well. That's a teacher that truly changes lives

Azineth Buan is more than a life changer, she shines as a role model for all. Without mentioning her endless awards and recognition, a quick encounter with her will personally reveal the passion and enthusiasm that she exudes as a leader and role model. Whether in the Philippines, the United States, or even in her own home, she has never ceased to be an advocate for the uplifting and advancement of one's life through continuing their education. As a teacher, Mrs. Buan has high standards for her students and holds them accountable for their success. She motivates them through her compassion and positive energy and takes it upon herself to be available for them. Need proof? Take a glance at her son's accomplishment. An educator's worth is often measured by their student's success. Under his mother's guidance, Axel Buan has received numerous awards including the highest combined score in math and science and the Engineer's Choice Award in the Engineering Design Challenge on a state level. He has participated in the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering's competitions for four years in a row. Outside of her home, many will attest to Azineth Buan's excellence as a life changer. She is currently a mentor in the Church of Christ's Christian Brotherhood International, a network of Christians and professionals who support the youth. She supports them by helping kids in their school work, tutoring those in need and connecting aspiring students to professionals in their desired occupation. The National Life Group's value is to "Do good. Be good. Make good." Azineth Buan clearly represents these values. It is now time for the foundation to keep their promise and to stay true of their vision of bringing peace peace of mind to those they touch, by recognizing my role model as the Life Changer of the Year.

I have known Sister Azineth Buan since the day they moved to Houston/Humble Locale in our church. From the time I met her, up to this day, I can boast about how worthy she is of this recognition: a LifeChanger Educator. Let me start by how much I admire her as a parent to her two loving children. She has a brilliant son and an amazing daughter. I have seen how much she cares for them by making sure they are well taken care of in every aspect. I have seen how she supports both of them to acquire the best knowledge in school, helping them unlock possibilities in every way they can, exercising their young minds to become limitless when it comes to dreaming and aspiring for what they want to become in the future. Her children are like cream of the crop because she makes sure she spends her time in educating them starting from her home. Her children receive nothing short when it comes to recognitions and in turn they become an inspiration to the other children in our church. This brings me to how she truly values her faith in God by assuring her children to also hold the same faith and importance to their services to God. I have seen this firsthand, as a youth leader in the church, that her children never truly miss important church events and functions and they hold important offices in the church as well. I aspire to be like her when I someday have children of my own. Another thing I admire about her is how deeply rooted her relationship is with her husband. I see nothing but respect and love in their relationship and it is truly an inspiration to behold especially during these times in our society where sacred vows in marriage is held in high disregard. Her and her husband continue to give advices to our youth when it comes to maintaining a great relationship that is centered in God. As someone who I treat as a friend, a second mother, a sister in the Church, and as an educator, I have learned so much from her. She treats me and everyone else with respect and shows how much she cares for us. I am inspired by how she manages her time to be each one of those and more. She is so dedicated in everything she does and gives her 100%! She is truly deserving of this award!

Sister Azineth Buan is an integral part of our church community. Not only does she help out the brethren in her local congregation in Houston, she even engages with brethren all throughout the District of Texas through different church organizations. One particular district organization that Sister Azineth is involved with is the SCAN (Society of Communicators and Networkers), of which I am currently the Officer in Charge. Sister Azineth is our acting Secretary, performing vital duties such as the completion of forms, creation and processing of activity reports, monitoring of SCAN members throughout the district, etc. Her amazing work has helped organize and transform the organization; now, our reports are submitted on time, the SCAN officers and members are regularly briefed on upcoming events, and more meaningful activities are being done every month. What's more amazing is that Sister Azineth fulfills additional duties in her own local congregation! We feel so blessed by our Almighty God that HE has appointed Sister Azineth in this position. She brings with her the dedication, professionalism and passion in teaching into our organization, as is regularly voiced out by brethren all over the district, whose lives she has touched through her selfless work in the church. She truly embodies the title "LIFECHANGER", and I hope the members of this committee will see the same.

She is an amazing teacher who really cares about her students. She inspired me during hard times. I enjoyed going to school for her class. Anyone who has had her as a teacher can agree she has the biggest heart. She goes above and beyond for anyone she meets.

Azineth is a true embodiment of all the great qualities you hope to find in an individual; more so if their work is to educate and to inspire and to drive aspirations. She empowers the youth to achieve while reminding them to embrace humility and to recognize those that helped them along the way.

I have known Mrs. Azineth Buan as a dedicated member and an officer in our Church. She holds multiple offices but she is able to manage her time wisely without neglecting her other obligations. She is a hardworking, trustworthy and a God fearing person.

Azineth deserves the title. As her big sister, I witnessed how she dedicates herself in her job, families and services in the church. Everyone who knows Azineth will certainly admires her abilities and enthusiasm. Nieces and nephews idolise their auntie whom they call “Mommy Neth”
