Brooke O'Neal's nominator would like to remain anonymous.
"Ms. O’Neal has been like a breath of fresh air since she joined our staff last year," said her nominator. "She’s fun, energetic, and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure students and families are prepared and productive. Most recently, Ms. O’Neal was 'voluntold' to leave her regular classroom to become a Virtual Learning Academy teacher...She accepted the challenge and has made this experience the best one possible. She has been one of the most positive teachers to embrace this change, and it has helped the school atmosphere in so many ways."
Ms. O'Neal is co-teaching the Virtual Learning Academy with another teacher in the district for all fifth grade elementary students who have chosen this option. She's constantly checking in, answering emails, and responding to parent requests, all while making learning fun. She is up, moving, and excited, and the students are engaged.
"When I think of Ms. O’Neal’s commitment to the cause, I can sense how she has worked very hard to make sure there has been a seamless transition from face-to-face instruction to the virtual experience," said her nominator. "She has remained professional, and her performance has exceeded our expectations. Ms. O’Neal's ability to maintain a nurturing atmosphere, even during these difficult times, has been quite impressive and one to model after."
