Music that Describes Lindsey

Lindsey Lingefelt was nominated by an anonymous colleague.

"Ms. Lingefelt's one of those unsung heroes who's never recognized for her amazing talents, heart, and skill," said her nominator. "I have known Ms. Lingefelt for 20 years, and in that time, students have always come back to me to say that Ms. Lingefelt was their favorite teacher. I always ask them why, and the responses always mirror each other: 'Ms. Lingefelt is real with you, and she cares.'"

"I have often wondered what it is about Ms. Lingefelt that makes her go above and beyond for every student that she teaches," said her nominator. "I have wondered if it’s because she is a mother of four children and she just has that instinctive nurturing spirit. I have wondered if her drive comes from years of experiences working with so many students in multiple schools. I have come to the realization that Ms. Lingefelt is a Life Changer because of her innate ability to recognize the humanness in everyone she meets. As a result, this spills over into every relationship that she has with people, and ultimately, as a teacher."

"Students who have had the privilege of having Ms. Lingefelt have loved to express how much fun they have in her class," said her nominator. "They describe their experiences as being in class, but more so, a life class. Currently, Ms. Lingefelt teaches sixth grade math, but over the years, she has taught humility, endurance, and character. As I reflect on what makes this teacher stand out from her colleagues, I see a woman who loves people, the profession, and her purpose. I am a better educator because of being surrounded by Ms. Lingefelt."

It seems ironic to be writing about my own daughter as someone who makes a difference, but Lindsey Medlock Lingefelt surely has in mine. She is smart, thoughtful, kind, helpful, unselfish, and loving. As a teacher she has made a difference in the lives of each student who has entered her classroom. This has been evidenced by comments from students themselves, parents, fellow teachers, and her principals. Her current principal has said that all students NEED to have ‘the Lingefelt experience”. I’m proud to say that my daughter has and is still making a huge difference in the lives of many

I’ve known Lindsey for many years as she is one of my Mothers best friends. Not only is she a loyal, compassionate and kind friend; she is a strong and courageous woman. She takes ownership and pride in her work and would do absolutely anything for her students, coworkers, friends and family. The world could certainly use more servant leaders and friends like Lindsey. She is more than deserving of this award.

I have been fortunate enough to have worked with Ms. Lingefelt my entire 24-year teaching career. I respect her as an educator who expects only the best from her students, loves with a big heart and teaches with passion. Her relationship with students, past and present, goes way beyond academics. She leads with compassion! Ms. Lingefelt teaches her students life skills, how to respect the opinions of others and how to become more confident as a problem-solver. I value her honest opinion as an educator and friend. I can’t think of anyone else who deserves this award more!
