Tatiana Iezzi's nominator would like to remain anonymous.
Ms. Iezzi joined Highlander as an AmeriCorps team member 13 years ago. She continues to be an invaluable member of the community. She has gone from working as a teacher assistant in classrooms and afterschool programs to leading all aspects of the afterschool program for many years. Ms. Iezzi was recently named Family Engagement Coordinator at Highlander, serving families of students in grades pre-k through 12. She arrives early and stays late, often after hours if other members of the Highlander community need it.
Ms. Iezzi is the embodiment of a LifeChanger. Her ability to see what students, staff, and families need without many conversations and connect them to supports is extraordinary. During the school closure for the COVID-19 pandemic, she took action as an integral member of the administrative team. She worked with the team to package food and communicate with families, and she was a key part of planning distribution so families could participate. She knew the questions to ask to ensure food was getting where it was needed most, and she never caused families to feel uncomfortable. Ms. Iezzi supported teachers by checking in with families whose students were struggling with distance learning and helping them get connected to their classes. She continues to do this!
Ms. Iezzi also worked on creating a temporary lending library for students during the pandemic so they could access books at the same time families picked up food at the school. She works hard to ensure the Highlander community is safe, has food, and is being heard. She helps staff and families with managing technology and multiple priorities so students can learn to their best ability. Most families have her cell phone number, and they call and text her with their questions and concerns day and night. She responds to everyone, and if she cannot help, she directs them to the right person or place.
As a hybrid of in-person and distance learning began, Ms. Iezzi stepped up the plate to assist the building principal in developing systems for entry to school, communicating processes with families and staff, and covering many different roles to ensure each day runs smoothly. She makes everyone entering the building feel welcome, greeting staff, students, parents, and visitors with a smile and an offer to help.

Tatiana goes above and beyond at Highlander. She takes on many roles within the school to help each day run smoothly. If any teacher needs help she is always willing to step up and help out. She also works to keep the morale up at work. She creates games, raffles and plans get togethers. Tatiana is an amazing coworker.

There is no one more deserving of this award than you. For 12 years I have worked with you and your commitment to your work and your community knows no boundries. You make every person feel apart of a team and is always the first to help. The positive, fun energy that you bring to all the events makes it memorable for both students and teachers. As a volunteer at Highlander I quickly became aware of the impact that Tatiana had on the school. She was constantly called upon and always responded with kindness and compassion. I liked to go to her because her energy and interest always created meaningful responses. She is a remarkable role model.

I couldn’t of think of a better day to celebrate Tatianna’s nomination then today. I have known Tatianna for about four years now and she embodies the definition of selflessness. She is always there for everyone whenever they need someone whether it’s a ear to listen or a hand to help. During this past year while the world is battling a pandemic that hasn’t stopped her from being completely devoted to her job. Even while we hang out there are times she needs to step away to help someone at work. Even when the day is over she comes home to not only take care of her family but take countless zooms to help families at the school. She also even has stayed after at times to help distribute food to families. She certainly is more then deserving to receive this award and be proud of what she has accomplished through her hard work. ??

Ms. Tatiana is certainly a life changer who has such a positive impact on our Highlander community. She works tirelessly everyday to ensure that there is clear and effective communication between students, families and staff. She is a tremendous facilitator, whether it be helping families with programming, food distribution, technology, daily communications and so much more.She is a positive team player who jumps in to help in many areas and always wears many hats. Tatiana is one if the most dedicated, compassionate and thoughtful individuals I know. She takes time to know each of the families she works with and encourages all students to believe in themself. Tatiana works tirelessly to provide families with resources needed to help students learn at home, as well as engage student learning afterschool.
