Amy Miller was nominated by a member of her community, John Derreck Whitson.

"Amy works tirelessly with her students, their families, and school administration to get the best results with limited resources," Whitson said. "I have witnessed her work after hours, on weekends, and during school holidays so that her students can achieve their respective goals.  If proper funding is not available, she finds private resources to help go above and beyond. She is also involved in the personal lives of her students, from promoting extracurricular activities, to propelling reminders of deadlines, to making private phone calls so she can give students added support. She is constantly delivering the message to never give up and continue fiercely in the face of adversity.  Our rural community in Appalachia is underserved on so many levels, but Amy combines determination with cheer to promote our traditions, values, and culture.  She exemplifies the fortitude of a genteel leader."

I became acquainted with Amy Miller when she coached the Lady Eagles Volleyball Team. From day one she encouraged, motivated and taught us to be our best on and off the court. She has went above and beyond with helping me with ACT registrations and deadlines. I admire her for the way she treats everyone the same with no judgement. I count it an honor and blessing to know Amy Miller.

Amy has a strong desire to help those in need and has dedicated her life to that end. I know of no one more sincere in pursuing that goal. She always goes the extra mile in helping people, even when it is detrimental to her own personal gain. She has made positive influences on the lives of too many to count.

This is one of the hardest working girls I've had the pleasure to know. She loves each individual student, and wants to help them all. Amy Miller for life changer of the year.
