Michelle Courville was nominated by a family member and former colleague, Jessica Lowery.
Ms. Courville is a LifeChanger and so much more! She is a student, educator, cheerleader, confidence builder, and school mom, but her most important title is advocate for all students. She leads by example and has high expectations for the students of Gautier Elementary. Ms. Courville provides critical and instant feedback, hands-on learning opportunities, and positive reinforcement for every student she comes in contact with.
During Ms. Courville’s time at Gautier Elementary, she has worn many hats. She has been a long-term substitute teacher and reading coach for multiple grade levels. Now, she's an assistant teacher/student teacher finishing up her degree in elementary education. She assists her Gautier Elementary family in and out of the classroom daily. She helps provide much needed tier interventions and has served on multiple committees, such as the messy food assembly and talent show. Ms. Courville provides support wherever and whenever she is needed, including covering for activity classes or being a hall monitor during testing.
Ms. Courville has a big heart. She has helped bag, hand out, and deliver food during the pandemic. What sets her apart, however, is her willingness to connect to all students. She takes time out of her day to check on students in different grade levels. For example, Ms. Courville built a relationship with a kindergarten student when she was the substitute in his class a few years ago. Over the course of the student’s academic career, she has made a huge impact on him and his family. She advocates for this student; when many choose to only see his behavior, she looks deeper. She loves that student for who he is, not for what he has done or what he will become. This is why Ms. Courville is a LifeChanger, this year and for years to come!
