Steve Smith was nominated by his principal, Amy Ricks.
Mr. Smith has been a great addition to the Charles Stones (CSIC) staff. He's a special education teacher who also facilitates the gifted class, and he directs the after-school program, as well. He creates lessons that have his students dive deep into content for understanding and stretch their thinking skills. Mr. Smith uses his own time to check on students to make sure they are doing well, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. He organizes service-based projects for his students that impact the lives of other students and teachers in the school. His gifted class made and mailed over 100 Christmas cards to less fortunate students this year. Each card contained some type of gift certificate for the students. Mr. Smith goes above and beyond for his "kids."
