Mrs.Edwina Breaux, is an amazingly charitable woman. Extremely devoted our community. I've know her for 12 years. When my family moved into the community she welcomed us with open arms as she welcomes any new neighbors. She is very active making sure our community is safe and the Elderly are taken care of. During the summer months of covid 19 she arranged a mobile dj on her lawn to uplift the spirits of the neighborhood for a couple of hours. We sat in lawn chairs safely in front of our respective homes or opened up our windows and forgot for a while that such devastation was happening. We definitely need that!! In my opinion she is a Dynamic Woman whom I'm happy to call a friend and a wonderful neighbor.

Mrs. Edwina Breaux is a great person whom I am very privileged to know and work with! She is a tireless worker and often takes time out of her way to busy schedule, to accommodate all of her students, while attending to the needs of the staff at Hightower High School. As a friend and colleague I just want to congratulate you for being nominated as a Lifechanger of the Year! This is not always a easy profession, especially during the pandemic, but you continue to make the sacrifices and do a great job! I think I speak for the entire HHS family, we really appreciate you very much!

It is apparent in her interactions with everyone that Mrs. Breaux is all about ensuring that not only her students receive a great education, but her co-workers and peers know she is there for them in any way she can be. She is passionate about students attending college or pursuing the career of their dreams, and is not shy about 'getting all up in their business' if they need the push. Mrs. Breaux is probably the most spirited person on our campus. She dresses up for every Spirit Day, and when I say she dresses up, SHE DRESSES UP!!! She is truly an inspiration to everyone she meets and truly deserves to be THE LifeChanger of the Year!

Mrs. Breaux is an amazing person who exemplifies everything it means to be a student first educator. In my short time of working with her, I have witnessed first hand how much she cares about our school and students. She is a servant leader who understands what it takes to make sure our students have a fighting chance to be successful. She leads the math department by example, and her beautiful spirit is a joy to engage everyday. I am proud to work with her, and I know she is changing and improving lives every single day. Thank you Mrs. Breaux.

Mrs. Edwina is a superior support both with academics and spiritual (my gorgeous church member) to her classroom and community! She’s always willing help and follow through on projects to the very end! I nominate her #1! She’s loved by everyone with that awesome smile!??

As a Friend/Church Member/Colleague of Mrs. Breaux, I am proud of her, I see the dedication she has for education. Her passion to serve goes without merit. Putting 3 children through College, working a full time job, being committed to church ministry takes a lot of time. I have served on committees with her and professionalism is what she expects. She raises money for Scholarships and assist others when needed. I think of the song by Aretha Franklin when I think of her. Bridge over trouble waters, shows that she is quick to assist when there is troubled waters. She is a great mother and wife, and still finds time to help other. I wish we could clone her and we can safe many more kids life's. Edwina Breaux, Trailblazer./ my friend.

Mrs. Breaux was one of my biggest supporters during my second year of teaching. Even though I teach at a different high school now, she still answers my call any time I need help or advice. Without out even saying a word, she will brighten up a room with that smile and will also bring positive energy every where she goes. And let's not forget about that swag of hers, which shows up in every amazing outfit she presents herself in. Mrs. Breaux has been a positive impact on my life, being there for every birthday of mine and especially when my father passed. I am glad I was given a chance to meet her and have her in my life.

Samaria Smith Posted over a year ago

I have know Mrs. Breaux since I was 14. I was in her Algebra class as a freshmen in high school, math wasn't my best subject, but Mrs. Breaux never gave up on me. She pushed me when I felt defeated and congratulated me when I was doing well. I would sit in math class with tears in my eyes because I couldn't understand why I couldn't grasp the concepts of math sometimes and she never let me fail. I am now 28 and went from being her student to her coworker and she still is the same amazing woman that she was when I was that little 14 year old girl. She was honestly one of the most memorable teachers that I have ever had. She is truly a life changer!!

I have known Edwina for many years. We are not only colleagues but we also attend church together. Her role as an educator does not end at Hightower High School but flows over into her church ministry. She participates in our scholarship program in an effort to ensure all graduates are recognized and if possible receive money for college. She is a great example of what an educator should be. She makes a difference in the young people she encounters. We need more educators like her who are in education for the outcome and not the income. Thank you Edwina for being a beaconing light.

Edwina Breaux is an outstanding educator, she is not only a dedicated educator she has impacted students in the community, my daughter is one of those students. Who graduated for Hightower High School 2013, she went on to attend Sam Houston State University obtaining her bachelor’s degree Animal Science in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. Ms. Breaux ask me how my daughter was doing, I told her she’s holding a 3.3/4.0 at Sam Houston, and that she has received a letter from Tuskegee University to be interviewed for acceptance, without hesitation Ms. Breaux say I have a former student and colleagues I’m going to make a phone call to, get back with me. Shortly afterward, Ms. Breaux says here a number for Christina to call, I have told them about her already if she interested, they would allow her to shadow over the summer at their Veterinary Clinic. They were the three awesome Veterinary who also graduated from Tuskegee University, who has they on establishment and TV series “The Vet Life” We Flew to Atlanta made the 1 ½ to 2-hour drive for her interview in hopes and prayer Christina gets accepted in Tuskegee University. We all were nervous and aware how hard it is to get accepted at Tuskegee, and there were so many intelligent potential candidates there for the interview. They were so impressed with Christina potentials and resume that showed she shadow a year with three alumni she received an acceptance letter two weeks later. It was Ms. Breaux act of kindness, that I must say played a vital role for my daughter, Christina is the graduated class of 2022 Tuskegee University Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Ms. Breaux, because of your beautiful energy, I am grateful for your endless kindness…

I became closely connected with Edwina only a few years ago, but she made a tremendous impact as one of my daughter's teachers in that short time. Edwina has a natural gift of doing and caring for others; she does it wholeheartedly, sincerely, and continuously, and joyously. Her smile radiates through her eyes and actions. Whenever I think of Hightower High School, I think of Mrs. Breaux. Ruth Bader Ginsburg said, "I tell law students… if you are going to be a lawyer and just practice your profession, you have a skill—very much like a plumber. But if you want to be a true professional, you will do something outside yourself… something that makes life a little better for people less fortunate than you" (Hubbard, 2020). Edwina Breaux is more than just a teacher. She is a true professional. She is someone who makes life a lot better for anyone she meets! Reference: Hubbard, L. I am a retired educator from an urban school district in a neighboring state. I was a secondary classroom teacher for 20 1/2 years and a curriculum director for 20 1/2 years. From my experiences I am very familiar with someone who cares about students and who is a life changer. While visiting relatives in Missouri City, I always had the privilege of spending time time with Mrs. Edwina Breaux. How amazed I was to watch her provide guidance and assistance to my high school and college relatives and their friends home on vacation who needed help in comprehending some math concepts. Mrs. Breaux displayed not only the mathematical knowledge and skills, but I was so impressed with her patience with the students and how she guided them to believe that they could be successful in their math classes. I have observed many teachers in high school classrooms and Mrs. Breaux exemplifies the “cream of the crop.” In addition, she is a kind, loving and dedicated educator, inside and outside of the classroom and above all else, she is a practicing Christian woman. Mrs. Breaux is well deserving of this award.

Upon meeting Mrs. Breaux a few years ago as a customer, she began to affectionately refer to me as "The T-shirt Lady " which quickly developed into a full blown friendship. She has been nothing short of a blessing every time we speak. Mrs. Breaux has a very loving and authentic spirit about herself that just allows you to be yourself. I recall a time within a few months of knowing each other, my car transmission went completely out and left me without any means of getting to and from anywhere. Without skipping a beat she stepped in and did everything she could to ensure I made it to an event that i was scheduled as a Vendor for that day. She has truly shown herself to be a great friend and is well deserving of being awarded Life Changer of The Year.

Mrs. Breaux is the epitome of a Life Changer! If you were to look up the definition of greatness her picture would be planted there. Her unconditional acts of kindness towards her students and fellow colleagues is insurmountable. Giving is in her DNA! I have known her for over 35 plus years and giving to others is her passion. Mrs. Breaux is a champion for the empowerment of others young and old. Her foundation of character is solidly build on the principles of giving of her time and service to help others. I would be remiss if I did not express how much she has made a positive difference and impact in the lives of so many individuals that have crossed her path. Mrs. Breaux is the Life Changer that everyone should have in their lives!

Mrs. Breaux is the epitome of a Life Changer. If you need a visual to define a giver, her picture and name would be enough. Her life has been dedicated to the empowerment of others, especially the young at heart. Mrs. Breaux has been a giver of her time and so much more to her students and fellow colleagues. She is always giving even when it is not asked of her or expected of her. She exemplifies the true essence of unconditional caring. I am honored to know her and I wish nothing but the best for her!

Edwina has been a personal friend of mine since 2006. We met when we were both working on a school committee at our children's school. I immediately recognized her as a giving, hard working person. We became friends and supported each other through our children's activities. Within the first few years of our friendship, I was impressed by the love she showed for teaching as she had to juggle support of her children's activities along with her work obligations that she had committed to after hours. This is the sign of an excellent teacher, the ones that are so involved that they don't just work during school hours, they talk about the tasks and duties that they have to complete on their own time. We all know, teachers are not paid "overtime". The sign of a GREAT worker in any industry is one that doesn't measure what they do or when they do it, they just do what they have to do to get the job done. For Edwina, teaching is not just a job, it's a career that she takes seriously. Her care and love for her students, parents and fellow teachers is evident in all that she does. She is most definitely a LifeChanger!

Many people in life you meet coming and going but, when you have the opportunity to come face to face with someone that HAS IMPACTING your children's life it is amazing. My son's have had the privilege of being taught by Mrs Breaux. I remembered her name but, thank God we didn't have to visit her often . I'm so excited for her, she is a Life changer not only did she change one son but, impacting both of my son's. She did such an incredible job that one graduated from college and was on the dean list, and my youngest is a senior in college doing outstanding . Enough about them. Mrs Breaux she is a woman of incredible strength, integrity, and loves teaching and she pushes others to soar high in life. If I could vote ?? 10000 plus times it would be for her. People talk about lives matter with Mrs Breaux they really do . In conclusion my oldest son who she has impacted his life is very successful and has decided to enter a Master level program. My youngest is a AB student in his Senior class in College . When we crossed paths recently both my son's laughed and said Wow she taught me in High School and they really admire her and are thankful that she pushed them to go after their educations??. She has many other attributes but here are just a few Incredible | Teacher | Leader | and Most definitely a Lifechanger..... My prayer is that she continues the journey because, the pathway she has laid down for many Kids & Young Adults they are following what they have been taught . We need Teachers TO SHINE THEIR LIGHT LIKE MRS BREAUX. SHE HAS OPENED MANY DOORS FOR OUR KIDS AKA YOUNG ADULTS TO FOLLOW .

Once in a while, you run across a great teacher. Needless to say, as a professional in another field, my perspective has changed after meeting Mrs. Breaux. I would like to share a few traits I have observed in Mrs. Breaux: 1. She respects her students, each students ideas and opinions are valued. 2. She’s accessible, enthusiastic and caring towards everyone. Mrs. Breaux is approachable, not only to students, but to everyone. She’s a teacher to whom students know they can go to with any problems or concerns. 3. She sets high expectations for all students. Mrs. Breaux realizes that the expectations she has for her students greatly affect their achievement. 4. She has her own love of learning and inspires students with her passion for education. She constantly renews herself as a professional on her quest to provide students wit the highest quality of education possible. 5. And finally, while teaching is a gift that seems to come quite naturally for some, Mrs. Breaux ensures that all students and colleagues are given her utmost attention and respect. She’s a JEWEL and well RESPECTED at her school and in her community.

First off I want to say this achievement is well deserved for Mrs. Breaux . I was one of Mrs.Breaux ‘s students in 2008. Although I wasn’t the best actor she always showed me love and encouraged me to get it right . Well I finally got it right and when we cross paths I thank her for her contribution to my life ! No only was she a great teacher but a great leader in and outside of school. Even to today her attitude is always a even kill and so uplifting. I’ve seen Mrs.Breaux take amazing care of her Husband , daughter and sons and translate that same energy to her students . It is my absolute honor to know and have Mrs.Breaux in my life . Congratulations on a job well deserved

Mrs. Breaux is a life changer not only in the classroom; she’s a life changer outside of the classroom as well. My daughter had an unexpected pre-term delivery in July of this year. Given my granddaughter’s early arrival, we were not fully prepared. Once she heard of the delivery, she graciously donated preemie clothing and went out of her way to ensure the delivery of those items. We are so appreciative of her thoughtfulness. This proves her caring spirit knows no bounds and is genuine through and through.

More importantly as a friend and church member she has been tremendous to me beyonds any words that can truly describe this wonderful relationship.I would truly say she is a Lifechanger

When I focus on my Concept of Change -- I came to this conclusion, if one is to make A Positive Change in others, they must be willing to make A Change within themselves. This thought comes to mind whenever I first met Edwina Breaux. The day that I saw Her attending our Math Department Meetings pushing Her little Baby Girl, I thought WOW!!! What A Dedicated Educator. That was over 30 years ago and my thoughts still remains the same. I could really write A Novel about this young Lady that made such an amazing impact on her commitment to Her Family and Professional Duties, that I finally had to adopt Her as My Own Daughter.(??). However; I will just give a summary of this Life Changing Educator. 1) Shows enthusiasm concerning Her Job. 2) Very Optimistic..sees the Best in every student. Believes all Students can learn, maybe not at the same place. )3. Is Multitasked 4) Is A Team Player.. quickly adapts to change and always motivated by opportunities to gain New Knowledge. )5. Believes that "Education's Destination Has Never Been Reached" You Decide....Life Changer Or Not?

Mrs. Breaux happened to be a part of a two-fold ministry in my life. First as my mom and second as a teacher at my high school. She literally changed her life to ensure my own life would be plentiful. A blessing to be nominated as a life changer. She has been a leader in the lives of her students at Hightower, her coworkers and her family.

Mrs. Breaux, my loving mother, has shown great leadership, wisdom, and care for her students and schools she has taught since I could remember. She has made and maintained several meaningful and professional relationships with her students and colleagues throughout her many years and it shows how she is transforming the world around us in a positive and uplifting way. Even friends of mine who are her former students always admire the way she taught and engaged them in math. She can always be counted on to help and mentor those around her who need the extra assistance and guidance.

Mrs. Edwina Breaux, my mother is the most loving and caring person a child could ask for. Her energy is unmatched when it comes to her support for other, her compassion, and in her involvement with her students. To know that there are individuals she’s led to a positive light makes me proud to call her my mother. I’m grateful to have her in my life and wouldn’t trade her for the world.

Edwina Breaux is ine of the most dedicated educators I have had the privilege to know and work with in my 27 years as a fellow educator. Some teachers teach and then you have teachers like Mrs. Breaux who develop, nourish, and cultivate children. She is passionate about her job, colleagues, and community in which she serves. She adds leadership, school spirit, and warmth to our school, and she is one of the most respected staff members at Hightower High School. It is an honor to work beside and with her.

I met Edwina through a family friend. I later found out we knew others mutually. She is a very pleasant person. Her energy is light. She contributes so much to her family, church family, students and friends. Her heart of gold shines through and through. I am so glad to have made her acquaintance and looking to many more years of friendship with such a phenomenal woman.

True teachers are those who use themselves as bridges over which they invite their students to cross; then, having facilitated their crossing, joyfully collapse, encouraging them to create their own. Mrs. Breaux is a natural teacher at heart. Whether it be in or out of the classroom, her teaching hat never comes off. I honestly think she might even sleep in it. She takes her time and put forth great effort in all of her doings, and honestly, I’ve never been a witness to her shortcomings. Edwina is definitely a role model to most young women she encounter, and a great example of what a young lady should be. Her being acknowledged as a Life Changer comes as no surprise to me. She works tirelessly to provide the best teaching method to her students, and figure out more modern ways to get through to each and everyone of them. Even on her off time, we’ve had plenty of conversations about her students and how much they mean to her. She’s definitely a teacher that continues to work outside of work. I’ve heard her on a Sunday, after a church service, bring up completing scholarships to her graduating seniors and encouraging them to stop by her classroom so she could help them out the following Monday. I’ve never had the privilege of being a student under her leadership in the classroom, but she’s definitely been a great teacher at life for me. From the day we first met, there was always a story to be told, and a life long lesson to be learned. No conversation the two of us ever shared lacked substance of any kind, there had always been a reason for whatever the topic at hand was. She accepted me as one of her own, and taught me as she would do them. She has been a tremendous blessing in my life and I couldn’t thank her enough. Everything I thought I was missing out on in life from a mother figure as an adult women, in some sort of unexpected way, I received from her. She’s naturally a nurturing, caring, god fearing woman, and definitely the epitome of a great teacher. If nothing else, she is a life charger to say the least. Big things come in small packages, and Mrs. Breaux is undoubtedly the biggest. Often times it’s said, “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” However, what do you call someone who does all??? If you’ve read anything I’ve said thus far, then you know it’s E. Breaux for the win!!!
