Jon Morikawa was nominated by the Hawaii School Counselor Association.
Mr. Morikawa was named the Hawaii School Counselor of the Year. He has an amazing ability to connect with students on a daily basis by using his creativity, such as by dressing up for Halloween, getting the teachers involved in assemblies throughout the year, or coming up with a catchy beat for a cheer to capture the students' attention. If a student is having a hard morning or day, he will take the time to "talk story" to see what is bothering them. It's great to see students smile as they leave his room to head back to class.
