Pamela Julian-Petersen was nominated by her spouse, Richard Petersen.
"Pam is not only my wife. She is a daughter, mother, friend and advocate. She is an advocate for everyone without a voice or those with a voice that is not being heard," said Mr. Petersen.
Mrs. Petersen has fought for support services for her students, friends, and community members from all over Long Island and New York State. She has been a Union Rep, PTA Board Member, and Youth Sports Board Member. She has sat on legislative and instructional committees and even lobbied in Albany. Mrs. Petersen is passionate about her career and what she believes in, and she loves her students immensely.
Her career has spanned 30 years, and she plans to retire in two years, bringing the total to 32 years! That's 32 years of loving, nurturing, educating, and molding thousands of minds.
"The reason I'm writing this is not for the award. It's the opportunity for me to honor my wife's commitment to her career. Additionally, I'd like to recognize every educator for the amazing things they do for our kids every day," said Mr. Petersen.
