Mrs. Halsey is a consummate professional. She is most competent in all areas of her responsibilities. Not only is Mrs. Halsey extremely competent (certainly from the vantage point of the staff), she is also kind, considerate, helpful and reassuring to everyone she encounters (students, staff, parents, and administrators) in the course of her long days at school. Mrs. Halsey helps all people and is a life changer! Thank you, Mel!
Mel Halsey is a secretary like no other! Our school has gone through many changes and transitions over the last few years and Mel has been the one person we could rely and depend on. She is our constant! Mel is the queen of multitasking, managing, problem-solving and organizing; all the while with a smile upon her face! Mel is one of the most hard working and dedicated individuals and we are so lucky to have her here. She is at the core of our school's success, as she works tirelessly to help and support not only the teachers and administrators, but also the students and parents in our district. She always goes above and beyond her duties, because that is who she is and she is always willing to help any and everyone solve the many conflicts or problems that may arise during our busy school days. She is always professional and yet she is personably and truly demonstrates her devotion and passion for our school and district each and every day through the work she does. I can't think of a more deserving individual for this "Life Changer" award, because Mel day in and day out works so hard to make everyone elses lives run smoothly. I am truly privileged to call her a colleague and friend. Bolivar Elementary and Chittenango Central School District would not be what it is with out our Mel!
Melody Halsey is definitely a life changer in our school, Bolivar Road Elementary! I have known Mrs. Halsey for about 15 years and she is always available to answer questions and to help in anyway! Over the years I, myself have gone to her with questions and she always takes the time to answer them or find out the answer if she does not know it herself. Additionally, her daily interaction with the students at Bolivar Road is amazing. She always demonstrates kindness, empathy, and support. I know for sure that our school would not run as smoothly as it does without Mrs. Halsey!
Mel is an amazing example of a woman that goes above and beyond everyday to make everyone's life at Bolivar wonderful. She always greets everyone with a smile and has just a compassionate tone with our students. Mel is often one of the first staff members in our building and always one of the last to leave at the end of the school day. She is loved by all and we are truly blessed to have Mel as one of the most important members of our Bolivar family!!!
Melody Halsey is such an amazing person. She is kind and compassionate. She welcomes everyone into our building with a bright smile and a friendly greeting. Although she is extremely busy, she takes time for the students, parents and teachers who ask so much of her throughout the day. Mel truly is a "Life Changer". Mel Halsey is the most dedicated secretary I know! She is at school very early every morning and stays at work very late everyday, and it is not unusual at all to see her in school on weekends! She is asked many questions and is asked for help all throughout every day, and she always makes you feel like you are very important and not bothering her at all. She always talks to you and helps you with a smile on her face. She is one of the hardest workers and one of the most pleasant people I know. I truly feel that Mel deserves the "Life Changer" award because of what she does for the teachers, administrators, co-workers, parents, and students of Chittenango Central Schools.

I knew Mel Halsey long before I started working at Bolivar and knew what a great person she was . But now working with her over the last 10 years she is the strength behind Bolivar that keeps us together on a daily basis. We have been through so many changes and she got us through it all. Mrs. Halsey absolutely deserves this award because she is the "foundation" to our school. She always stays late to make sure every job is compleated to perfection, goes above and beyond what is required of her, has wonderful work ethics, has a great sense of humor, is very helpful to all the staff, she is professional, always has a smile on her face, and without her, our school would not operate as smoothly as it does. We have all been associated with a moment in our lives when someone in our company invokes the term “game-changer.” The singularly important and pivotal moment, in which the tide of momentum ricochets and one’s destination is altered. The journey now defined by this critical juncture and without it not the same at all. If we think deep enough, it is quite easy to identify a person in our lives who has embodied the essence of a “life-changer.” A singularly important, critically pivotal person who changes the trajectory of your existence and without them you are never the same at all. If you are fortunate you may have several. For many in the Chittenango Central School District Community, and the Bolivar Road Elementary Family, this person is Mel Halsey. Selfless, honorable, dignified, empathetic, kind, generous, humble all describe Mel as a person, but none as nearly befitting as life-changer. Mel has changed the lives of faculty and staff with her warmth and positive attitude, who in-turn change the lives of hundreds of Chittenango children. Mel has changed the lives of parents, children and community members who are greeted with a genuine smile. You could say her influence is without boundary and timeless, for her humble and kind heart lives on in all those she encounters. Mel is a game-changer, she is a life-changer…she has been one to change mine.

I have had the pleasure of working with Melody Halsey for 17 years and have found she truly is a Life Changer. Melody has always been professional and organized, what sets her apart is her kindness and intuition. She has helped parents, students and staff in school and in the community with a genuine smile that beams from within. Melody has a sense of when someone or something needs support and does not hesitate to help however she can, whether a child forgot their lunch and is feeling sad or a colleague falls ill at 9:00 in the morning and needs a sub NOW. Melody is the heart of our school and deserving of the award, Life Changer.
When I heard that Mel Halsey was nominated for a LifeChanger award, I knew immediately that I needed to comment on how much she deserves this award. Truthfully, I don't typically participate in a lot of these types of events, but I truly believe that Mel is the essence of this award. As everyone in our building is well aware, Mel is one of the first here, and always the last to leave. This is not because she doesn't know how to manage her time, but instead, it is because she goes above and beyond everyday to make Bolivar Road Elementary a better place for the entire staff and student body. She certainly deserves a recognition of this gratitude, and she would only accept it humbly, as she'll never admit to the tremendous impact she has been on our school community. I am honored to be a part of the Bolivar team with her.
I have worked alongside Mel for 17 years. She is always pleasant to everyone she sees' and she does her best everyday. She often stays after work late to make sure things are always ready for the next day.She thinks of everyone else first before herself especially the students at Bolivar.She is one of the first faces that the public sees walking into our school every day, and she represents us as a district extremely well. We are blessed to have such a wonderful person and friend working with us at Bolivar Elementary.
Mel Halsey is the glue that keeps our school together. She is everyone's go to. She's kind, smart, helpful, dedicated, hardworking, beautiful inside and out, and giving. Mel is the first person who greets parents and new guests at Bolivar Road Elementary. She welcomes everyone with a warm smile and gentle words. As a parent of 2 children that have attended Bolivar, it was encouraging to have a safe and efficient office staff who supported us all as we transitioned through the building. As a staff member, if I have any questions or concerns, Mel immediately steps up to support me. Mel has developed a personal friendship with all staff and parents in our district, going above and beyond her duties in the office. Mel is the center of Bolivar Road Elementary, a true life-changer for so many, every single day.
