Amanda Haley was nominated by a colleague who wishes to remain anonymous.
Ms. Haley makes a difference every day in the lives of her students. She is a true educator who goes above and beyond the regular 7:30 to 3:30 school day. She is an educator who teaches with purpose and always meets the needs of her students, no matter what time or costs it may take. Ms. Haley is always willing to try research and evidence-based strategies and programs to see if they increase the overall student success rate in her classroom. She is a member of her school's Leadership Team, Media Center Committee, and Accelerated Reader Committee, as well as the district superintendent's Teacher of the Year cabinet committee. She was also named the 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year for Center Elementary School and serves as a first grade team leader.
On a daily basis, Ms. Haley demonstrates the hard work and dedication she puts into her classroom. No matter what time of the day one may enter her classroom, you can always expect high levels of learning with her students.
"She truly believes in the mission of her school, which is: High levels of learning for all students," the nominator said. "She also teaches in an inclusion classroom, and the awesome thing about that is that you can never tell who the special education students are. It truly is a mixed ability group setting in which Ms. Haley is meeting the needs of all of her students with a no-excuse kind of attitude that is making a huge difference.
