Position: Nurse Coordinator
School: Grafton Middle School
School District: Grafton Public Schools
City, State: Grafton, MA
Jackie Davis was nominated by her colleague, Timothy Fauth.
Pandemic or not, Ms. Davis has solidified her reputation as a LifeChanger for students, staff, and families in her illustrious career as a school nurse. Having been the trusted and valued school nurse at Grafton Middle School for many years, she took on the role of Nurse Coordinator when the pandemic took place. In this role, she has not only thrived in the face of a once-in-a-generation health crisis, but she has done so with grace, professionalism, empathy, and kindness. As busy as the day or situation(s) may be, she continues to keep the Grafton Public Schools a safe and thriving school community.
It is certainly well-known that the role of a public school nurse has changed exponentially in recent years. Nowadays, nurses not only treat and care for the sick or injured, but they also play the role of counselor, therapist, confidant, friend, teacher, and parent (to name a few). Ms. Davis has developed an unbelievably high level of trust amongst the staff, students, and families of Grafton. Sometimes, people go to her not for medical advice or questions, but just to talk with her! Her level of emotional capacity is off the charts, as she has a deep amount of empathy and understanding that flows through her.
"Grafton Middle School has undoubtedly become a better place and village because of Jackie," said Fauth. "She deserves all the accolades and recognition that should come her way--even though she's terribly proud and humble! We love Ms. Davis!"
