Cynthia Kuhns was nominated by her colleague, Marcie Tierney.

"Cindy is one of the most energetic, compassionate, and devoted educators and people I've ever met," said Tierney. "Everything she does, she does for children.  She has this amazing ability to meet each and every student where they are developmentally and help them grow leaps and bounds."

Ms. Kuhns is creative and always brainstorming ideas to better support students.  She is a lifelong learner, seeking new knowledge from everyone and everything she involves herself in. She makes strong, trusting relationships with families and will go to great lengths to get them the support that they may need.

Her energy's infectious. She brings such a positive light to her school building. She has a warm smile, and she always takes the time to check in with staff and help them feel valued and important. Ms. Kuhns is the first on her preschool team to volunteer for the school-wide potluck, make a treat to celebrate a staff member's birthday, or take on additional responsibilities.

"Cindy has been a mentor as I continue to learn the best way to support our students who receive services and have identified needs. She always supports me to differentiate curriculum that will support the needs of each one of our students.  She joins me in parent conference meetings and cheers me on when the going gets tough," said Tierney.

"Cindy has touched the lives of so many students and families across Addison County in Vermont throughout her career.  I know that she will continue to support students, families, and colleagues, even when she decides to finally retire!  I feel honored to have the chance to work with her every day, and to call her my colleague and friend," said Tierney.
