Stacy Buss was nominated by her principal, Patrick Brady.

Ms. Buss has worked with students who have significant barriers for nearly 20 years.  She has made an extraordinary impact on the lives of all the students she has worked with.  Her population of students ranges dramatically, from blind students, to non-ambulatory students, to students with significant behavior and cognitive challenges. She has a gift of working with each student as an individual and developing a plan to help each student reach their full potential.

Her commitment exceeds her day classes, as she teaches homebound students after school in order to provide them with the education they need, as well. She puts her advocacy skills to the test every day as she ensures that her students are able to obtain what they need to be successful. She has helped students receive mobility devices, glasses, and communication devices, which she teaches them to use. These devices have dramatically improved students' lives.

As the teacher in charge, Ms. Buss is always willing to help other teachers develop curriculum or brainstorm interventions to help a student be successful.  She always participates in programs such as the PTO to help raise money for fun things in the school. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms. Buss did an incredible job of adapting her curriculum to a virtual platform and providing students with services, even when they were home.

"Stacy is one of the most caring, creative, hardworking teachers I have ever met.  Her passion and dedication to the school, students, and staff is infectious and inspiring," said Brady.
