Charity Walker-Hughes was nominated by her daughter, Nikiedra Harris.
Mrs. Walker-Hughes has been working at Moreno Valley USD for 16 years, changing the lives of both students and teachers. Year after year, she has been an educational superhero. She commits 100%. She makes sure students who feel like they don't have a chance in this life, can't graduate, get a job, or go to college understand and have the fundamentals to get there. She doesn't give up on them, and she pushes them to better themselves, both academically and as people. Mrs. Walker-Hughes is a true believer in, "No child or adult left behind."
Mrs. Walker-Hughes had no sick days. When she was sick and not on campus, she was online helping students, grading work, and answering questions.
"She is devoted to making sure that if she works with you or sees you struggling, you'll leave her with everything you need to know to move on, or maybe even more," said Harris.
