Music that Describes Jonathan

Jonathan Marshall was nominated by his colleague, Otha Keys.

"There are not enough words or room to talk about Mr. Marshall's impact on our students and colleagues," said Keys. "He is a gentle giant who has shown himself to be a compassionate leader, role model, teacher, coach, and principal. He constantly makes a positive impact on our students. Mr. Marshall is a teacher of character and integrity who, no matter what is going on, always has a smile and does what is in the students' best interest. He has proven that he cares, which has made a big difference in their lives because students don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."

"His presence and engagement with them have made a big difference in their lives. He is truly one of a kind. I have never heard any teachers, parents, community members, colleagues, or students say anything bad about Mr. Marshall. He is a great teacher and coach, and when he speaks, everyone listens. He is a true example of service, the best of the profession. Every day, he has shown that 'A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.' When students return, he is one of the first people they ask about. Our school won't be the same without him," said Keys.

Not only is Coach Marshall a great teacher and coach, he is also a man of great character. Coach Marshall has continually made a positive impact on his students, players, and colleagues over the years by his kindness, hard work, and unselfishness. He is someone who is solid and can be counted on to do the right thing, all the time. I'm thankful to have been able to work with him. South Jones will definitely miss Coach Marshall.

Mr. Marshall is an amazing coach, teacher, and administrator. I'm thankful for the years I've been able to work along side him. He is more deserving of this award than I could even begin to describe! He will be missed at SJH.

This man might be one of the most influential people I have ever come in contact with. He has coached, taught, and been an administrator at different times over the last 30 years. While coaching with him, he has made sure to hold student athletes to a higher standard. He has shown them what is like to work hard and persevere even in failure. They will be better men because of him. As a teacher, he has been influential in guiding a molding students to be the best they can be. He is almost every students favorite teacher. Not because he is like the stereo typical "coach," but because he holds them accountable. He makes them responsible, hard workers who will become productive citizens. As an administrator, he backed his teachers while holding them accountable. He was a fair judge of character and situations. He always did what he believed to be right, and he lead with extremely high character. Coach Marshall will never be replaced at South Jones. He's a great man who is deserving of any award that can be bestowed upon him. Thank you coach. You are the epitome of what a South Jones Brave should strive to be.

Coach Marshall is a true Coach, on the field and in the classroom. He does more than teach football tacktics and history. He builds men out of boys and is an example for the students to look up to.

There are not enough words to express what an impact Mr. Marshall has made during his years as a teacher, coach, and a principal. I am thankful to have worked for him while he was a principal and even more thankful to work WITH him as a teacher and colleague friend. The students he has impacted as while as myself have always looked up to him. He has always been fair and treated everyone with equal respect. His retirement is well-deserved, and he is leaving big shoes to be filled. He is definitely well-deserving of the Life-changer award for the many years and extra time he has dedicated to education.

Coach Marshall is amazing. I have had the privilege of having him as a teacher/coach for Weight Lifting in high school and as a co-worker. He is the absolute best at both. You know when he says anything, it is important and meaningful. I will miss his positive attitude and willingness to always help. Coach Marshall will be greatly missed at South Jones by the students and the staff.

Mr. Marshall is definitely a lifechanger for our students. Our students see him model integrity, compassion, and perseverance on a daily basis. He has great rapport with the students because they know he cares about them. My 2 sons, who are in their late twenties, still remember the impact Mr. Marshall had on them during their years at South Jones High School and speak of him with great respect.
