As a freshman coming to a new school, Mrs. Cocchia always made sure we could do our best and little more, but never too much. Having her again during junior year which for me was virtual due to the pandemic, I had the opportunity to connect with her in a very special way. Mrs Cocchia always had a clear plan of what we'll do in that class period and made all the assignments challenging yet rewarding. Now looking back as a senior, she is one of the best teachers I have ever had and I'm sure a lot of my classmates would agree. She even wrote me an excellent and very personalized letter of recommendation for my college applications which again show the depths she would go to learn about her students and aid them. Mrs. Cocchia is the definition of dedication in and outside of the classroom. I had the privilege of having class with her when she first started at my high school, and honestly, I have to admit that I wish I had seen the value and commitment that she provided to us as her students earlier. The more I reflect on how she handled our class, from making sure that we all understood the material, to going out of her way to follow up with us and give us second chances for tardy/late work (which at the time I was a massive perpetrator of) was honestly innumerable. In the four years of high school, there was never another educator who truly carried this constant attitude towards all of their students. I haven’t been a student of Mrs. Cocchia since 6 years ago, but over these past six years I have heard nothing but acclaim and admiration for her and her techniques inside and outside of the classroom. Mrs. Cocchia is the definition of a diamond educator, and definitely changed my life and put me on a successful trajectory in life that I can only attribute to starting with being in that classroom 6 years ago.

I've had the absolute pleasure of partnering with Stephanie to help her put together her international trips for her students. In the two years Stephanie and I have worked together, it is absolutely evident how much she cares for her students. She takes care of them as though she were their mother. She expresses a clear passion for her job even when it might seem like the most hectic at times, especially when her STEM trips to Europe with a select few students gets closer. Despite that, she is always present and her students are at the forefront of her mind, something I can guarantee as I have been on the receiving end of her kindness. Beyond that, she is always striving to learn new ways to help her students learn information, going out of her way and adding more to her already piled up plate so that her students have the best opportunities and advantages at their disposal. To say that Mrs. Cocchia is a Lifechanger of the Year is an understatement because she has helped more students in the last few years than others may have done in their entire life. Where do I even start. Ms. Cocchia has been more than just a geometry and web design teacher at McNair High School; she has been a mentor and someone I can talk to about my day and make jokes to laugh about. Whenever I see her whether it's in the hallways or when I stop by her classroom to say good morning, she is always smiling. Her smile is contagious and I can tell whenever I see her talking to a student. She's recently taken me and a group of 30 students on a week-long trip to three different countries in Europe. She was amazing at handling everyone's needs and making sure everyone was feeling ok being in a foreign country. She was the mom of the group as well as a friend that everyone could laugh and even dance with. Ms. Cocchia is not only a great teacher, but a well rounded person, friend, and mentor.

I was very nervous the first year at McNair Academic High school. One of my new teachers was Ms.Cocchia. She was the nicest and sweetest person. She made the class fee welcoming and I was able to enjoy the class. She taught the class very well and I really enjoyed her class. She would also treat us with baked goods whenever everyone in class did good on tests/quizzes. She motivated everyone to achieve above and beyond. I am very grateful to have her as one of my teachers.
I was there on Mrs. Cocchia’s first day teaching at McNair Academic in her Algebra 2/ Trigonometry class. What I didn’t know then was that I would have the best teacher i’ve ever had in that year, and again the following year in a Web Design course. It was her teaching style, her kindness, and desire to help students learn in and out of the classroom that changed the lives of not only my life but many other students. It was through my interactions and classes with her, as well as her strong recommendation that would would allowed me to pursue my degree at Carnegie Mellon University. She changed my view on education and I can only hope to leave a positive impact on even a fraction of the people she has. I only had Mrs. Cocchia for one year during freshman year and as you know, some high school teachers would just forget about you the next few years but even as a senior she has that same bubbly personality and says hi to me and even it’s just a simple hey or nod it can brighten a students day.

I was a freshmen and I had the luck of having Mrs. Cocchia as a teacher in McNair High School. She always makes her students work hard and she always encourages her students. She takes time to explain unknown concepts to students. Mrs. Cocchia is very dedicated and she always helps her students.

I got lucky enough to go on one of the international trips with her and her organization and dedication in making everything possible just highlights how amazing of a teacher she is, and the trip was a great experience. Ms. Cocchia was one of the best teachers I’ve had throughout my high school years. She was always so kind and understanding. She creates a positive environment for all her students and welcomes everyone into her classroom. She always offered her time and made class easy to follow as well as fun.
Mrs.Cocchia's an awesome teacher. She makes sure that we all have the resources needed to understand the material and she explains things really well. She's very kind-hearted and funny aswell!
I had Ms. Cocchia in the 2019-2020 school year as a Geometry teacher and I have no doubt that she was one of the best teachers I have ever had in my life. She was extremely well organized and extremely coordinated with every lesson, pushing her students further and further while being lenient with her assignments and teaching in an easily understandable way. She always found a way to make sure her students were learning, even when the Pandemic struck in March. One of the most notable memories that I have of Ms. Cocchia was when i had done poorly on a test and she stepped aside to talk to me. She urged me to do better and explained the content piece by piece to fill in the knowledge in my gaps. I credit her for putting me back on track in my education and making sure I had some level of organization in my freshman year.

Mrs. Cocchia is one of the most inspirational teachers I’ve ever had the privilege of having. She’s acted as a personal role model for me and has helped cement the fact I want to one day be able to teach like her. She always makes herself available to all her students, making sure none of them are left lost or confused and really goes the extra mile to ensure that no one feels like they have to catch up entirely on their own. But she has always been more than just a teacher to her students, myself included. The amount of consideration she shows to everyone is just such a rare sight to see, she’s always willing to offer such amazing life advice or just listen to our problems. The impact this has had is difficult to put into words. But it’s still something so worth of acknowledgement, because when you feel like you have no one to turn to too or no one you can trust enough to open up to it creates such a mental burden that really can begin to tear you apart. Mrs. Cocchia has made sure none of her students feel like they are alone, she always is quick to notice changes in them and offers herself as a shoulder to lean on when we need it. And never in my life have I seen someone as accommodating as her. She is truly worth all of the praise she receives, because what makes her such a great teacher is the fact that she has never been just a teacher to me or any of her students, she’s been someone we can count on, someone we can talk to, and someone who was willing to care when no one else seemed to.

Ms Cocchia is goated at the beginning of the years national placement test I was in the 86th percentile and now I'm in the 99th so there's scientific evidence she is the best teacher.
Ms Cocchia is probably one of the best math teachers I've had to date. I came into her class knowing next to nothing in the previous level of math (thanks zoom school), but she was patient, kind, and helped me learn what I didn't know. Ms. Cocchia is one of the only teachers I have ever seen really go the extra mile for her students. I was lucky enough to have had her as a Geometry teacher last year and her class was on a short list of maybe two classes that I felt truly engaged in-- in light of virtual learning. She was creative in how she led her class despite the obvious disadvantages of virtual learning and was constantly asking herself how she could better her students' experiences in her class. She knew everyone by name, voice and personality despite her vast class sizes in a time where most teachers would rely on the shortcut of having people's names plastered across their profile pictures in zoom meetings.
I had Ms. Cocchia as a teacher during my freshman year in high school (2019-2020). During a time that was totally new and sometimes scary, Ms. Cocchia was always a kind and comforting figure. As someone who doesn't usually take to the STEM feild easily I say say that Ms. Cocchia made math fun, engaging, and informative everyday. Her class was rigirous but never overwhelming and there were many oppotunites to get extra help if needed. Her caring personality and comprehensive lessons make her a wonderful teacher.
Ms. Cocchia's key attributes come in her ability to balance her role as a teacher and as a human being perfectly. I was so lucky to have Ms. Cocchia as a teacher. I had her in the 2019-2020 school year and she was one of the kindest, most considerate teacher I had. She always made her time available to students and made sure everyone understood what she was teaching. And then when the pandemic hit and school closed, Ms. Cocchia quickly adapted. Where most teachers assigned busy work, she gave us assignments that helped us finish the year with a great education in geometry. While other classes have you scrolling through months of the curriculum, Mrs. Cocchia has every assignment labeled and organized. She is always prepared and ready to teach with a bright personality.
