Music that Describes Cynthia

Cynthia Shimasaki was nominated by Hawley Woods.

Mrs. Shimasaki has been in education for over 30 years. She pays special attention to those students that are into science. Every year, she has coordinated the science fair within her middle school, where students participate with their projects. She spends several extra hours to make sure it is always a great success. As her students' projects gain recognition, she works with those kids to bring their science projects to the county-wide event, The Greater San Diego Science Fair. If her students move on to state-sponsored events, she continues supporting them at that level, as well.

"Mrs. Shimasaki is also a fair teacher," said Woods. "Several years ago, when one of her students was competing in the Little League World Series, she worked with him on the big projects, affirming that the experience that he was having was learning big lessons. Today, I want to give Cindy a shout-out as a client and friend. On a personal note, I know Cindy to have a strong faith and a wonderful family. Along with her husband, Mike, she has two children. Those kids have gone through the Sweetwater School District and have both had success in their time at Bonita Vista Middle and High Schools. Thank you, Cindy, for your years of service to the kids of our Chula Vista community. Bonita Vista Middle will miss her contribution to the science department and helping 7th graders in their program."
