Music that Describes Tina

Tina Logan was nominated by Christine Miller, a parent of a student.

"Mrs. Logan is an amazing educator," explains Miller. "I have had the pleasure of having my children attend her classes and art camps."

The passion Mrs. Logan has for her class and her art is unrivaled. She is talented, genuine, and knows how to connect with her students.

When COVID was still keeping children home and challenging their mental health, Mrs. Logan bravely and safely offered art camps in the summer so children could have an in-school learning experience while socializing with other children.

She researches and employs art instructional methods that intrigue and inspire her students, and her connection lasts long after they leave ADL. This sense of community that she develops remains with her students long after they graduate.

She is always helping her students navigate high school art programs and options, and she's always there to help students find their path by offering advice and guidance. She guides students through the AVP program at Essex High, writes recommendations, and helps students with their first exhibits at Art Hop.

Mrs. Logan is supportive, nurturing, and fun! Children feel safe with Mrs. Logan and want to be in her class. Her students love her because she "gets them," their art, and their individuality,  and she purposefully addresses their needs.

Mrs. Logan is also a lifelong learner. She is finishing her Master's degree and continues to create and exhibit her own art.

"Mrs. Logan is an exceptional educator that impacts your life like no other. I am wholeheartedly convinced that she deserves this honor. I am inspired by Mrs. Logan and in awe of her talents and passion," said Miller.

Mrs. Logan was my middle school art teacher, and even now as a college sophomore who has (unfortunately) not had much time to create art in recent years, I still remember Mrs. Logan’s art class fondly. In a time of my life in which I (and most students!) was starting to deal with mental health issues, changing social circles, and developing identities, Mrs. Logan was a pillar of support—her class provided a fun, relaxed environment in which we could express ourselves through art and received good grades as long as we were authentic and genuine in creating art. Mrs. Logan is a kind, open-minded, respectful, and truly good teacher; she continued to support me past my time in middle school by providing me an opportunity to intern with her as a junior in high school. As a teacher, I admire her dedication to sharing her love of art and passionately teaching students—but as a person, I admire her for all she has done for not just her students, but her community. Even now, Mrs. Logan is someone I reference when thinking about the kind of person I want to be, and the qualities I want to have and share with the world.
