Music that Describes Amanda

Amanda Beardsley was nominated by her colleague, Sarah Irby.

"Last year, our school family suffered several heartaches, including the loss of our administrative assistant and the sudden hospitalization of one of our fifth-grade students," explains Irby. "Not only was Mrs. Beardsley instrumental in helping us arrange a beautiful memorial service to honor our beloved administrative assistant, but she was also a great comfort to the family. Later in the school year, Mrs. Bearsley had a student suddenly fall ill. Even as the student underwent major surgery and the prognosis wasn't looking too good, Mrs. Beardsley was there to help her student's family consult with doctors. She visited the student, maintained phone contact with him and his medical team, and worked to gather donations to support him. She is even helping to plan a welcome back when this student returns to school following what his doctors have called a medical miracle."

Mrs. Beardsley's support doesn't just cover the families of staff and students. She also provides colleague support as a grade level chair and Induction Support Provider for new teachers in the district.

As if going above and beyond to support the Harvest Bear Family isn't enough, Mrs. Bearsley and her fifth-grade team led the district in state testing performance. Delano Union School District outperformed all other districts in the area with similar demographics.

"Even in the face of much adversity last year, Mrs. Beardsley was still able to lead her students to great academic gains and proved herself to be one of the best of the best," said Irby. For these reasons, I would like to nominate Mrs. Beardley for the LifeChanger of the Year Award."
