Charmion Frizsell was nominated by her colleague, Janice Greene.
"This lady is a human angel on earth for all children," explains Green. "Her heart is huge when it comes to finding and reaching each child's learning potential."
Mrs. Frizsell has served the educational system in almost every position for over 25 years. This wonderful educator has taken the responsibility of opening and operating the only Charter School in Caldwell County, thereby giving children and parents a choice for education. The staff she puts together is like family; somehow, she manages to reach each student and staff member on their own level. She is always encouraging and always has a smile for everyone. She and her husband Todd are the parents of five adopted children and live in Caldwell County.
"Opening a charter school is no small undertaking. However, this lady handled the task with love in her heart for the children. I can't think of anyone more deserving of this honor," said Greene.
Mrs. Frizsell always greets the children with a smile and is always working to ensure the children can maximize their potential.
There aren’t enough good things to say about this precious and amazing lady. She goes way above and beyond for all of the students and staff. She has such a loving, caring and giving heart. We have the best atmosphere and working environment and it’s because of the great leadership from our principal. I feel so blessed to work at such a great place. #OHCS

I worked at OHS for 18 years when it was a public school. My own children attended at OHS. She is changing lives because she is leading that community and it’s children. I am so happy the school is open for the laughter, love, and learning.
Charmion is a loving, kind ,Christian woman who adores her spouse and children. I believe she walks in true integrity as she balances so many hats! She is a phenomenal woman indeed!

From the first gathering of parents to meet the principal I remember what she said. “Just like I fight for my kids, I will fight for yours!” And that she does, meeting each kid where they are and encouraging them to meet their highest potential.
She has gotten our school off the ground and running with it meeting each challenge head on.

Websters Dictionary defines the word Altruistic as having or showing an unselfish concern for the welfare of others. I personally feel under this definition should also include the name of Charmion Frizsell. Charmion demonstrates genuine selfless acts of love and kindness to everyone one she meets. Charmion takes such pride in her job, however never taking any of the credit. Charmion never starts a job that she doesn't finish, and finish BIG! She may be small in stature, but is determined, fierce, and full of enthusiasm! She goes above and beyond her job description to ensure only the best working and learning environment is had for her teachers, staff and students. There isn't a day that Charmion isn't found at the car rider line or bus parking area, greeting students with a bright smile and good morning! She carries many other roles and talents in her principal "tool-belt." She is rarely found sitting still in a quiet area while school is in session. She is always on the move, visiting classrooms, helping organize, emptying trash, serving lunch, using a mop/broom and plunger if needed. On the other hand, she is found bandaging scraped knees, finding an appropriate sized warm coat, tying a shoe and giving heartfelt hugs to students.
Charmion will always be the student's biggest cheerleader, picking them up when they fall and offering a lending hand. Under her watch, no child is ever left behind. Behind the scenes, after hours and on weekends she is making sure every student has what they need to mentally and physically be prepared to learn. At Christmas, every child in need, as well as their siblings, receives clothing, food and gifts. This is a huge undertaking, requiring countless hours of precise and detailed organization. Along with PTO, sponsors and parents, each family is abundantly and richly blessed. In Charmion's eyes, there is always work to be done, whether physical or mental, to make certain her students, staff and school continue to run as a well-oiled vessel. As any good captain of a ship, Charmion exudes quiet confidence and is a master of management. She possess a stable and most humbling nature. Charmion knows there will be difficult decisions to be made, however knows how to balance needs above any outside influence. No matter the day or hour, Charmion rises to the occasion, portraying a positive attitude and bright smile. Ensuring her stellar legacy continues, Charmion marches forward as the true Life Changer she is! There is no one better qualified or deserving to be honored and nominated for Life Changer of the Year!

When I interviewed Charmion Frizsell for her first teaching job, I commented to her that she would be the school’s Teacher of the Year” one day! I could tell from my first interaction with Mrs. Frizsell that she was a truly genuine, compassionate and driven young lady whose heart was big and “in the right place”.
Fast forward 25+ years, Mrs. Frizsell has proven my first impression of her extremely accurate! She has held the honors of TOY as well as a Principal of the Year. She has built a highly successful career as a trusted educator in the local community. She has fostered and adopted children in need of loving and caring homes. She has furthered her education by earning degrees in Special Education and Educational Leadership and Administration. Honestly, the drive and energy that Charmion Frizsell projects on a daily basis is remarkable! Most amazing is that you will always see a huge smile on her face, a positive attitude and a willingness to help others that far exceeds most expectations.

Mrs Frizsell is amazing! Her kindness and compassion does not go unnoticed. We are only 3 weeks into the school year and she already knows both of my children's names! The second week she told me that Miah held the flag for the pledge. She “sees” my kids and realizes the struggles they face, and I can’t put into words how reassuring and comforting that is. She is front and center every single day at car rider line drop off and pick up with a smile helping the kids out of, and into cars. I can’t imagine how difficult being the first principal for a brand new charter school is, but I would imagine it’s a big job! She definitely deserves recognition.

Charmion is one of a kind. I had the honor to work with her for a few years. One of the best things about her as a leader is that she does know every student by name. We worked at one of the largest elementary schools in the county and it didn't matter. She knew every kid.
She was always on the move, Charmion was visable. She didn;t hunker down in her office, rather she was walking the halls, showing up in classes, outside, and always in the car rider line. The kids knew her and she knew them. She took ownership in the school and the lives of the students.
In my opinion, the greatest thing about Charmion is her refusal to let you be less than your best regardless of whether you are a student or a staff member, If you want someone to be a yes man or just to tell you what you want to hear, she is not your person, Charmoin is a no nonsense leader. But if she is correcting you, she is doing it in a way that will make you better than you were before. Charmoin will make you a better person, And when she is praising you, she is doing it in a way that is sincere and not full of fluff. She cares enough to encourage you when you are down, and lift you up.

I have been away from the public school system for over twenty years. I was completely content with never going back into the system. Charmion became a definite life changer for me. I have had the privilege to volunteer at Oakhill Charter School before opening day and since opening day. Mrs. Friszell is awesome to work with. She is a very hard worker and has a heart to help children. Oakhill Charter School is blessed to have her as principal. The atmosphere is wonderful at the school and I would give Mrs. Friszell credit for that. Leadership is most important in a school and this lady has great leadership qualities!
Charmion is the reason that I came out of retirement to work with Oak Hill Charter School. I had worked with her when she was my principal at Gamewell Elementary School. Out of the blue, I get a text from her asking me to work for her again. Well, of course, this was a no brainer. So, my answer was yes. She loves children and that is what it takes in this day and age to succeed in the field of education. She does make a difference in the lives of the students. She also makes a difference in the lives of her staff--I most certainly know that for a fact! As we grew older and had separate pathways in life we fell apart in seeing one another. Little did I know as I was praying for my twin girls kindergarten teacher they would have that year that it would be her! To this moms heart it was a true answered prayer. To say that they had a great year that year is underestimated. She was an amazing teacher for them and that classroom. She had all those students engaged and they learned so much. I could never have asked anything more from her as their teacher. Charmion has been a blessing to me as long as I have known her! She is more than worthy of any recommendation that comes her way!
