Erica Walker was nominated by Nicolette Dennis, her principal.

"Erica is a wonderful school counselor who has made a difference in the lives of countless students," said Dennis. "She has partnered with me for the past nine years to ensure that our students graduate on time and are ready for the next chapter in their lives. Ms. Walker tracks student graduation requirements and grades and meets with them individually to ensure they have a clearly articulated post-secondary plan. She is a regular in classrooms, talking to students about their future, and she partners with me to ensure that parents are aware of their progress toward graduation. We have improved our graduation rate from the low 70% to 97% because of her partnership with parents, students, and me. Additionally, she is the Department Chair for Counseling and coordinates our counselors to ensure that our students are ready for the next grade and, eventually, graduation. She is a tireless advocate for all students and is instrumental in ensuring we have a vibrant, student-focused counseling program."
