Mrs. Sons not only does a lot out of pocket for her students, but her community, as well. She goes above and beyond what anyone else does. She traveled to Uvalde with her husband after the shootings to bring joy to the kids down there. She and her husband traveled throughout Texas as Spiderman and Spider-Gwen to spread cheer and laughter to kids, and they do it through donations, as they do not charge.

I have had the honor and privilege of knowing Katelyn as a colleague, as her administrator, and as a parent of a child in her class. I am blessed to have this unique perspective and a front seat to her passion for educating children and her huge heart. From completing grants to ensure her students had access to technology, to getting sponsors to help purchase books for students' home libraries, Katelyn does what it takes to change the lives of her students and give them opportunities they deserve. Not to mention the many trips she's made alongside Spiderman outside of her workday; she's truly dedicated her entire being to improving the lives of others. She's not afraid to walk into a hospice room, hospital, or town filled with heartbreak with the hope of being a light in a dark situation. Katelyn is a light in our district and will continue to be a light in this world. She's a true lifechanger and is so deserving of this award.
Me and my husband have the pleasure to know and be friends with Katelyn Sons , and I (Chef Gabriela) have the honor to call her my best friend.
We met Katelyn and her husband Jeremy (AKA The Denton Spider-Man) at our wedding and she gave me a lot of advice while I was stressed before walking down the aisle. We were strangers but she took the time to help me calm down. We became good friends ever since. They have been a part of the important events we've had after the wedding, through the journey of Cheese & Salsa and also on hard moments we've gone through.
She is very passionate about her profession, she loves her school and her students and always goes out of her way to make everyone feel taken care of. On top of that, she works with the community always helping people in need.
She has a big heart and she's almost always the person behind the camera but she deserves the spotlight! Katelyn changes lifes everyday she goes to teach, everytime she becomes Spider-Gwen and every time she drives Spider-Man around and takes pictures.
Her positive attitude and her big smile along with her spirit of service could move mountains.
Which is why we are not impressed with Katelyn being nominated as LifeChanger of the year. She deserves all that and more??

Let me say that Katelyn is most definitely a life changer. I see her impact on the people around her most every day. She’s the type of person that never looks for recognition but deserves it. We went to Uvalde Tx after the horrible tragedy as Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen to give the children a day of smiles and happy memories. When we were there a little girl came up to Katelyn and gave her a note and was head over heals about Spider-Gwen. So when we came back a few weeks later Katelyn brought her a own Spider-Gwen suit. This is the kind of person she is. Always giving and never asking for anything in return. She’s a real Superhero. ??

My daughter was a student of Mrs Sons’ last year. Her attention to detail and individualized instruction were a blessing. I love that she has incorporated gardening, trying new foods and preparing from recipes into her curriculum.
On top of being an amazing teacher, Mrs Sons and her husband operate an incredible non profit. They put smiles on the faces of children in Denton, Uvalde and more as well as kids who are sick.
She is wonderful and kind and so well deserving of this recognition.
What can I say about my beautiful daughter? She has had her caring, loving spirit her whole life. She teaches me about unconditional love everyday. She strives so hard to impact the lives of children in such a positive way. I can't think of anyone more worthy of this award.
My son has Mrs. Sons this year and it had by far been his best year so far at Slidell isd . He comes he in a good mood more times than not saying that he had an amazing day and that he enjoys going to school . First time he has ever said that. We all think that Mrs. Sons is an excellent teacher and that she impacts every student that she meets let alone teaches in such a positive way thru her dedication and commitment!!
Mrs. Sons is one of my sons teachers this year. Everyday he comes home and says how much fun he has learning in her class. I love when teachers can incorporate fun and learning in the same environment and she really does that! He is constantly excited for her lesson plans and it brightens his day when he walks into her room. Her and her husband are such a treasure to this community. They always show up BIG! It is an honor to see Katetlyn at work with her students everyday. But that is not the only place she shows her love, Katelyn pours that same love and energy to her community AND surrounding communities who need her sunshine!
Katelyn is one of the most selfless people I know. In the 15 years I’ve known her, I’ve only seen her heart grow in compassion, kindness and humility toward those around her, especially her students. She does so much for them and for her community, and I know she has such a positive impact on everyone she meets. She’s just the best in every way.
Katelyn met my daughter as SpiderGwen at the Uvalde Strong Events. My daughter Natalie hand wrote a note for her inviting her to her birthday party. We weren’t even sure if we’d see SpiderGwen again but a few weeks later I got a text message from her explaining she couldn’t make Natalie’s birthday party but she was coming back to Uvalde in the coming weeks and wanted to meet with Natalie again! Once the day arrived, Natalie was extremely excited and ready to go hug her favorite super hero again. As soon as we met with her she told Natalie she had a birthday gift for her. It was her very own SpiderGwen costume! Natalie was over the moon. Katelyn’s thoughtful response to Natalie’s note made her entire year. When she went for her first day in Kindergarten they talked about what they did over the summer and Natalie proudly stated she met her superhero!
This young lady is more than deserving of this award!
Katelyn came all the way out to Plano to visit a Domestic Violence program that housed moms and their children. It was beyond a special moment for those families. Truly, a selfless individual.
Katelyn changes lifes everyday when she goes to teach. The way she cares about her students and her school is always amazing. Hearing her talk so passionately about her day by day inspires me to be a better person. She changes lifes every single day.

I am Katelyn’s teaching partner, this is our 1st year to teach together. Katelyn is very deserving of this honor. She is a kind, loving, hard working and giving person. She pours her heart out to the kids she teaches everyday, then jumps into the spider- mobile and pours her heart out to kids who are sick, or just need a little happiness in their life. My daughter had Mrs Sons when she first came to Slidell. Her previous school she was bullied because of her learning disabilities and started having panic attacks so I had to pull her from school and homeschool. Mrs Sons took her under her wing and helped her love school again! We are so thankful for her! ??
Katelyn Sons is one of my favorite teachers I’ve ever had. She really cares for each student on an individual level and is always willing to help. She made school more exciting and fun with extra activities and time for students to take a break.
Katelyn was my teacher way back when i was in 5th or 6th grade. can’t remember. she was only there for a year. but that 1 year she really sent a place in my heart. i was struggling pretty bad back then with some family stuff. anytime she would always have an open ear and just listen to me. she was like my older sister. when i had no one to drive me home, she would. she went out of her way to just to drive me home the opposite way where she was going and just chat with me. she truly made me feel better. and she was like a breath of relief. she was always so honest with me even when i didn’t want to hear it, cause she cared. still till this day she holds that place in my heart because of her passion for people.
Without talking about Katelyn with her students or her daily interactions with kids and families she may not know just to spread love, I want to talk about her impact on my life. I met her two years ago and we have quickly become great friends. I can truly go to her for anything. Last year her and I started working out together after school. Though it helps us get healthier, it has proven to be more of a vent/ talk session to go with it. I have learned about her past, her struggles, and basically her whole life. Her life is centered around love and compassion. She is continually doing things for others, without any judgement. When we talk, she is never boasting about good things, but rather letting her empathy show by always letting her emotions show. Empathy is not something everyone has and she is full of it.
It is truly hard to put into words what type of person Katelyn is and just how impactful she is on others. Anyone who will prioritize visiting dying children who love Spiderman and GhostSpider, embracing families of those children (even after the child has passed), and brings joy to others in moments of difficulty is a rare gem and Katelyn is that rare gem.
Countless impacts on lives, there is nobody more deserving of the Life Changer of the Year award.
Mrs. Sons brings her love and energy into not only HER classroom, but our whole community. She is a creative teacher, whose lessons extend beyond her classroom.
Katelyn is a fan favorite. The students love her class and she is always quick to get a hug from the older kiddos who had in 3rd grade! She is always willing to help her fellow teachers. She has traveled far and wide with her husband to put smiles on the faces of children. She goes above and beyond!

When I say this lady is absolutely incredible I mean it. She welcomed me with open arms into this crazy life of teaching and helped me do my first year teaching last year are my mentor/ friend/ co teacher. She works so hard at her teaching job, then leaves immediately to give everything she has to all the kids in the community. For birthday parties, to sick kids, to friends and neighbors in need. This is my first year to work with Mrs. Katelyn Sons. I am the principal on her campus. From the minute she and her team began interviewing me for the position, I knew her love and passion for the school ran deep!! Katelyn is determined when it comes to her students and their education. Katelyn Son has made a positive impact on so many little lives/hearts as a teacher, as Spider Women, and as an animal lover. All her time spent at school is spent making the lives of her students better. Her classroom and personality are upbeat and positive all day long. She lets every student know that they are important to her. She always has time to help them, listen to them, and just love them in whatever way they need some love. During her free time she prepares to make her classroom better, takes care of animals that need love, and spreads joy and love as Spider-Women. Her and her husband travel all over the place doing Spider-Man events. They have been to Uvalde at least twice spending time, passing out gifts, and spreading joy to the Uvalde community. They travel to see kids for their birthday. They travel to different community events. Everything Katelyn does she does because she wants to. She loves to make others feel love. Katelyn Sons is very deserving of the life changing title.
Katelyn and her husband are doing God's work. With their spiderman appearances, they have touched many lives. These include terminally ill children or those with special needs. They also have made I believe a couple of thousand birthday appearances as well as bring joy to nursing homes. Katelyn's heart for children is evident in everything she does. She is truly deserving of this award.
Katelyn is one of the most open, caring, loving, supportive individuals I have ever met. In working with her to book Web Party services to her being and amazing mentor and teacher for my nieces and nephews, you get a genuine sense for her heart. She does so much for kids and animals that it is truly deserving for her to get this nomination. I hope in some small way this helps dual her motivation and drive to give of herself so willingly to change the story for kids, bringing joy and happiness to all.
Mrs. Sons is always smiling and always helping anyone in need, she teaches 5 days a week and then goes all over in the spiderman truck putting smiles on childrens faces Uvalde they collected toys and other stuff and went and served up snow cones to them and around here she and her show up to birthday parties and put smiles on adults and childrens faces. She is an angel
Mrs. Sons helped mediate and fix a situation that she had no personal reasons to do so, she just wanted to help and it really impacted my life. I don’t think she is ever aware as to how much she helped me. She has the biggest heart, kindest spirit, and purest intentions out of anyone. She definitely deserves this award! But I know she’d be happy no matter what, and she would sincerely be thrilled for whoever wins, which is another reason why she deserves it. I’m tellin’ ya, you won’t find a kinder human.

To even know where to begin when describing Katelyn is difficult. I have known Katelyn for almost 2 years now and in that time I have gotten to experience first hand just how impactful she is as a person. Each day I see her tirelessly pour herself into her students, making sure their needs are met and they are learning. Past, present, and future students get excited to see her in the hallway and see her as a real life superhero. After work more often then not she goes home and travels with her husband as they spread love, God, and compassion to everyone.
Life changer is the perfect phrase to describe Katelyn…she is a wonderful teacher because she truly cares for each of her students. She shows her true heart with her actions not words, her free time is spent as Spidy Gwen to her husband The Denton Spider-Man putting a smile on the faces of our kids , whether it be at a charity event, a birthday party, the home of a sick child or traveling to uvalde after the school shooting. She is also a dog mom of 5 and has a pet possum. She is definitely a life changer in hearts of so many she touches on a daily basis, I know she humbled by this nomination but it so deserved

Katelyn is the generous person I know. Time..giving, support. I can say 75 percent of her dayis devoted to loving and giving to dtrangers. Children, animals, and the community. I hope you have an opportunity to meet her.She ENRICHES quality of life.
Katelyn Sons is a blessing, heart filled amazing woman. My 6 year old son was a huge Spider-Man fan, when he was facing his last few months of life after battling brain cancer, Mrs. Sons and her husband were by our side any moment we needed them. They would drop everything day or night and come to just put a smile on his face.
I also had the great opportunity to volunteer with her when the trip to Uvalde was planned. Handing out hundreds of gifts and creating a day of happy memories for the entire community.
I could go on and on with how Katelyn Sons has impacted my life and those around her in just the short year I’ve known her.
There is so much “good and awesomeness” to say about Mrs Katelyn Sons. I am a co-worker of hers and she was my daughter’s teacher in 3rd grade. My daughter had 2 very rough school years before having Mrs Sons. My daughter did not like school and didn’t want to go….until she had Mrs Sons! Mrs Sons was her 3rd teacher during 19-20 COVID year. My daughter was devastated during the school closure that lasted March-May. As a 3rd grader her heart was broken, I’ll never forget the day she said the words “Mom, I feel like the best school year I will ever have has been taken away from me”. Her birthday is/was March 24th. A daily journal was part of the closure assignments. My daughter’s journal entry was about feeling sad that she wasn’t going to see her favorite teacher on her birthday. Mrs Sons arranged a personal FaceTime so that my daughter could see her. She is now a 6th grader and still refers to Mrs Sons as her favorite teacher. I cry as I type these words, we will forever be grateful for Mrs Sons and what she did for our sweet daughter. I know you have many deserving candidates, but in my book, there is no one more deserving than Katelyn Sons! Aside from being THE best teacher, the Spiderman/Spiderwoman stories are true…..they have even made trips to other states. If there were only more Katelyn Sons in this world ??????

I have been around this young lady since she was a little girl, I can’t speak highly enough about her, she is a kind and loving woman who puts others before her own needs. She loves teaching all her students has if they were her own, her students love her back too. She spends countless hours on the weekends, giving up her free-time to make others happy. This girl is a gift from God. If she is not traveling across the world helping build churches in poverty stricting areas. Shes is traveling across Texas with he husband " the Denton Spiderman" helping children cope with this crazy world we live in with gifts, bounce houses, snow cones, spidey train rides, super sud canon laughter. She is the sweetest person. Helping any and all in need. Her and her husband " the Denton Spiderman" help cancer patients and made a trip to Uvalde and passed out gifts to the whole town, i think around 3500 children. Spreading joy and happiness to those children. So, yes, this girl is the best!!!!!!!!!!
Katelyn is such a ray of sunshine! She is incredibly selfless and gives so much to others. It takes a special person to work behind the scenes and not have a desire to take any credit for the effort, time, and work they put in, but Katelyn does just that. I honestly can't say enough about the sweet soul Katelyn - She just gives so much of her heart in absolutely everything she does, from teaching to being Spider Gwen to her husband's Denton Spider-Man. I swear, neither of them know the word 'NO', when they receive a request to go somewhere, she just wants to know how she can help, what can they do, what is needed, where and what time can they be there? They have driven states away because a child has asked to see them, they go to hospitals at the wee hours of the morning to support a scared child going preparing to go into surgery, they have spent hours and hours just visiting not only sick children, but children and people of all ages who just want to see the Denton Spider-Man and Spider Gwen for their birthday. She and her husband have gone to Uvalde twice since the horrific tradegy, just to bring some smiles to the town, to give the children a few hours of escape filled with nothing but joy. I don't see how her body holds a heart so big - thank you Katelyn for being you. She truly practices what she preaches - LOVE.
Katelyn Sons is such a sweet, dedicated, and caring person 24/7. She is devoted to her schoolchildren and interested in all aspects of their lives in the tiny, economically disadvantaged district in which she teaches. after school hours she transformers into a super hero- Spider Gwen, wife of the Denton Spiderman where she drives all over the state of Texas in costume with her husband in a specially decorated vehicle visiting and interacting with children and adults alike free of charge bringing them joy, hugs, toys, little goodies, playing games with them, visiting hospitals, going to nursing homes, the list goes on and on. I have never known her to say no to a request for a coat, a toy, a hug, a birthday visit, a photo (even providing a home for a motherless baby opossum :-). She is a true treasure to the community with a seemingly bottomless well of love and attention for people of all ages and deserves recognition for her efforts. Thank you for your time!
A well- deserved nomination. I had the privilege of teaching Katelyn 3 years in high school and she was as sweet and kind then as she is now. It had been heartwarming to follow her mission as a teacher and Spider Gwen in the past few years. Her heart is 100% in what she does.
I have had the honor to work with Mrs. Sons for the past two years. I have never in my life met a more selfless human being. As a first year teacher, she gave me countless advice. She stayed in my room with me after hours. Gave me tools to use in my classroom. Cried with me when I was frustrated. She was a friend when I was brand new and needed support. She is an incredible teacher. The patience she has with her students, the work she puts in, and the love she has for her job is unmatched.
All of this is not even mentioning the work she has done for the community. The countless hours she spends driving to events with her husband with no promise of payment. The trips to Uvalde. The joy brought to kids with terminal illnesses. She does it all. She truly is a superhero both in the school and outside of it. She inspires me to be a better human and a better teacher and she is so deserving of this award!

Mrs. Sons and her husband showed up as spiderman and spider Gwen to my son's surprise Halloween party I threw for him. He has adrenoleukodystrophy and needed a bone marrow transplant and really didn't want to miss his favorite holiday and they agreed to show up without hesitation. She is truly a kind soul and works so selflessly to bring smiles to the faces of children all across the metroplex. She truly deserves this!
