Telisa Carter was nominated by her principal, Brian Freeman.

Ms. Carter teaches at a predominantly minority and low economic school in rural Southeastern North Carolina. She is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of her students and families by inspiring them to believe in themselves and learn new concepts daily.

She is a leader whether assisting with after-school functions or seeking nominations for businesses to donate lunch to staff. She ensures a nurturing environment by loving and respecting all her students with different abilities.

Her excellent performance is recognized on the district level, like when she was chosen to pilot a $20,000 robot designed to interact with students on the autism spectrum. She consistently writes to donors to fund grants that will help supplement students' instruction. She is the best example of professionalism and advocacy.
